do not buy long term care insurance from Mass Mutual because when you file a claim for benefits their business model is to stall, stall, stall, and stall some more. six months have gone by and the claim has not been processed or denied. it does not matter that premiums have been paid for 22 years their business model is to say "NO" even if a licensed nursing home is providing the care that is needed for someone with progressive dementia. they wait for a person to die so they do not have to pay out any benefits. the President ******************************* will not even respond to a complaint letter. He has a flunky call instead because it must not be worth his time to take care of business. Oh yeah, he takes care of the bottom line and his big fat salary and benefits paid for by the customers. ******** should file a class action lawsuit for unpaid benefits. Maybe that would get their attention. They never answwer the phone or return any calls or respond to messages left. If I could give less than one star I would. This company takes your money with no problem but when you need it, it is a whole different story. Our mom paid her premium faithfully. We had to move her into a Memory Care facility and have had to jump through hoops. Leaving voicemails that are never returned. They asked for reports (the same) over and over again. They are supposed to have 90 days, which is typical. We are now on the 5th month, still waiting. They advertise as a top company, but BEWARE. Even the facility said they are one of the worst. Once she is approved and they start paying, the facility has to send in a report each month of exactly what they did for her each day. Unbelievable!!!!!! Some smooth-talking insurance salesman sold my mother a life insurance policy back in 2002. She already had one, but he convinced her to cancel that one for the new one. Since then, she has paid over $13,000 over the value of the policy. None of that money is being used to pay the premiums or add any value to the policy. It's all gone straight into MassMutuals pockets. I only found about this policy a few months ago. She is now going into a nursing home, and my only options are to keep paying for the policy out of my own pocket, or cash it in and hand MassMutual another $8,000 dollars. Mass Mutual is very slow when trying to close account. It has been 2 months and I have not received the check. The first time I called to check the status they told us they needed the EIN on the form. So this delayed the processing, although they were provided the EIN number when I send the original request in to close the account. Then they came back and told us that they would be a hold in order to verify address. We have not changed addresses, so I feel this is just another ploy by them to keep your money. So we sent in them the address even though it has not changed. I called again to check status and they have told me the amount and a check has been processed and sent out. It has been 6 days and still no check. I am not sure how it takes for them to get the check sent out of their office. Stay away from Mass Mutual. The investment account I feel was not being managed very well. I suggest you work with a different investment firm. Update just got a call and even though we were closing the account it is showing 7 dollars still available. They will have to look into this and get back to me. Who knows how long this will take. This company double charged me for my policy payment. Ive called many times trying to make a 250 dollar payment for my whole life policy but they stated the system will only let them take 500 dollars or nothing at all. forcing my policy to lapse. Mass mutual is a classic insurance company that will do everything in their power to "cherry pick" clients. They are not interested in the person and are not transparent. MassMutual is a company that will do unauthorized actions - send a check to the wrong address without authorization, stop payment on a check without authorization, stop a wire transfer without authorization, tell the customer that they called when they did not to inform them of important matters. I have been trying to access an acct. for more than a year that I had the legal right too have access to, and there have been more mistakes than a financial institution of their size should have. I am about to have my lawyer involved because they are not worthy of simple requests. I have never seen such a situation for a simple transfer of an asset. Even with the help of my Fidelity team witnessing, calling them, and doing all the proper work to get a claim processed, MassMutual has suspended an account without authorization or legal reasons.Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company Response

I have contacted the number given with the id case number. The company took my response by voicemail. The past two days I have tried to resolve this acct. issue in a proper msnner with my family, my ******** team, and the MM customer relations call center. Two days ago MM said this account is still suspended, but under review by the escalation section. MM acknowledged in an over night letter that they ask please accept our sincere apology when we inadvertently processed the payment of death benefit proceeds as a physical check and not via ACH as originally requested. However, due to their error, the check was sent to the wrong address and my neighbor rescued it off my porch in my secondary home not my official residence. MM said in that letter they would send the funds via wire. I did not get that letter in time before I proceeded to deposit the physical check in the other financial institution and that check had a stop payment made in it even after I contacted he MM customer service center to explain what I was doing. After much investigation yesterday , I discovered that the original contract in my deceased spouses account has a default to his now shut off email and phone number sbd guess what MM had been doing to commmnicate with me in many instances - calling my deceased persons phone which was shut off a year ago and sending emails to the deceased persons information also. Is this logical? The story will continue as I try to resolve this after leaving my voicemail with their customer service compliance center.Review from Don C

Customer service is extremly poor, as I called them for a withdrawal on Feb 23rd, they e-mailed me the paperwork and I sent it back, they received it on Feb 28th then on March 7th (after I called several times) they told me that the paperwork was incorrect, so they e-mailed me new paperwork and I emailed back on March 7th, after calling them every single day they kept telling me that the check was in the processing department and it would be mailed out from March 15th (every day) until finally on March 21st when I called for the tenth time they told me that the check was finally cut and being mailed out today (03/21/2023) via *** for the extra $20 charge. Today is 03/22/2023 and *** states that Mass Mutual did print the label on 03/21/2023 however it has not been mailed. I have an Annuity through ***** ********, purchased by Mass Mutual. I am retired from **************** in the Brokerage Business of 30+ years. I have NEVER had such poor service in my life. Between my husband and myself, we have held on the phone for over a total of 3 hours to no avail! I have tried to access my contract online, not an option due to the original ***** ******** policy not being in the companies Secure online system. I have tried to deal with Online Chat, the same problem. There is no one to talk to. The agent that sold me the policy is semi-retired and cant get through either. He has stopped doing any business with MM due to their horrific Customer Service. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. I am going to contact the Insurance Commissioner to file a complaint as well. I cant imagine someone that is in dire need of their money going through this. As of now, this time I have held for 1 hour 13 minutes. After reading the other complaints on this site, I certainty understand that you dont feel its the right place to Address Our Complaints. Perhaps an AD in the local Springfield Newspaper would be more appropriate.YOU NEED TO ANSWER YOUR PHONES AND HELP THOSE PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE CHARGING FEES TO HOLD THEIR POLICIES. YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIFIC.
