    I bought a travelberkeywith two black filters on 4/24/22. When I first conducted a red dye test, one of the filters failed and they sent me a new one promptly on 4/29/22. On 12/10/22, I performed a red dye test and both of the black filters failed. I contacted customer service and was told I would need to pay 25% of the cost to get new filters delivered to me. When I asked the lady why BOTH of the filters would fail just 7 months into their supposed 2 year warranty? She stated it could be because my water was just so contaminated that the filters worked so hard that they failed. She actually said the filters failed because they worked. LOL! Do people actually believe this? When filters stop filtering my water its because they worked? I am on city water. I am not off grid. So why would my tap water be THAT contaminated that the filters failed in such a short amount of time? Keep in mind they couldve failed earlier than that and I wouldnt have known. The only reason I knew was because I did the red dye test.Having 3 black filters fail during a 7 month period was just too much for me and I asked for a refund. Turns out the lifetime warranty on this product is just for when you damage the product. I do not want to pay even a prorated amount for black filters every 6 months or so. The customer service representative said this was uncommon and that most customers filters last 2 years and some even 5 or 6 years. Its a great sales pitch but for me, I am not willing to pour money month after month into a product that I know is not working.Berkeytouts how their filters are actually very economical and cheap in the long run but if you are having to replace them every 7 months, and having to pay more money on top of that, is that really saving you money? I think not. Their returns policy is c*** and prorated warranty is a scam to get people to spend money on filters indefinitely.Telling customers the filters last YEARS is truly FALSE advertising!

    I purchased two Berkey units for ***********, One is 2 years old and one is less than 6 months old. Both Berkey systems are only used for the summer months which means my first Berkey has less than one actual year of use and my new Berkey has only been used for 3 months. Both filters on the first Berkey failed the Dye test after less than 1 year of use and one of the two filters on my new Berkey (2023) with only 3 months of use has failed. Like the previous reviewer, Berkey tells me that the old dye test can not be used anymore and one has to reduce the dye amount to a fraction of the old test. My conclusion is that the filters are not of the same quality anymore or why would a dye test that has been used for years and years now not be good enough? With the new test, If you dilute the dye amount to such a low concentration and color it will be almost impossible to see any color in the output water...which is I guess what they want. Bottom line, I can only conclude the filters are not of the same quality and are not lasting. The advertised longevity of their filters was the selling point for me because at $166 for yearly replacements does not make them a competitive solution. Buyer beware that both my reviews on Berkey *** and Berkey the parent company were NOT posted...so very very very disappointed that they screen reviews and post the ones they want. I also went to Berkeyfilters.com and they only allow you to see 9 reviews of *****+. I checked each and every Berkey Product separately, Travel, Big , Royal, Imperial and Crown Berkey . Berkey would not tell me why there is not a single review in over 1 year for any of the Berkey Products? Why is Berkey filtering out all reviews given by customers over the last year to year and a half. My conclusion is they are having filter problems! Surprise, my review was also not posted !Do your homework...see NYTimes article on Berkey *********************************************************************************************************
