We had our 8 month old lab boarded at this place for 5 days. Upon arrival I filled out the necessary documentation and warned them she gets excited and jumps, we are working on it. Not only did I verbally tell them, I also wrote it on the instructions section. When I picked her up she smelled like ********, her coat was greasy, she had 1/4 of her bag of food left over (which I expected to be gone), smelled horrendous; like a musty **** like smell, and looked thin. The very next morning I took her out to give her a bath, and found three deep wounds on her head. One above her right ear, one above her left ear, and one close to her jaw she would hardly let me look at. She flinched every time I put my hand up to grab the hose, and was acting extremely odd. Later that day I noticed she had a greasy diarrhea, wouldnt eat and was super lethargic. My children even asked me why she wasnt acting like herself. I understand that being boarded at a dog retreat can be stressful, but the point of their business is to create the opposite effect. I first though maybe she was abused, or perhaps another dog attacked her. Hope to goodness it wasnt the latter. If it was being attacked by another dog, we should have been told! Not one word was uttered when I picked her up except the man said, She jumped and scratched. I told him I put that on her paperwork and that we were working on it. For the love this place is supposed to offer training classes youd think theyd be able to successfully handle a 8 month old jumping pup. The fact is our dog was mistreated and we are incredibly angry, disappointed, and feel mislead in thinking everything would be fine. Theyre policy is to assess the dogs temperament before they are in group play. It says on their website they introduce the dog one at a time to monitor the way they react with other dogs. This is to make sure they are safe for group play. It also says that any aggressive, biting, attacking, guarding etc, wouldnt be tolerated and the pet would be isolated. Their policy on disciplining your animal is a verbal warning, then a spray bottle with water to redirect behavior, and if that doesnt work, isolation. All that is fine, but in my heart I feel like she was abused by human hand and Im writing this review with grave concern. This place is absolutely unfit to board, train, or doggy day care any animal.
