I booked a 3 night stay in *********** with a new host. They did not contact me with check in instructions and the host ignored my calls/ texts. I had to call VRBO and they contacted the host for me an hour after our check in time. He claimed he was not the host but dropped off a key in the rental and left the door open. He would not give us his name and we did not feel safe staying. I have never had this experience with a rental before. VRBO did not resolve the situation. They need to vet their hosts prior to allowing them to post a rental. Will never use again. I will stick with *******Review from Shay A

I booked a $400/night rental through VRBO that turned out to have no air conditioning, which made the house stuffy and uncomfortable. When I reached out to VRBO for help, they simply referred me back to the owner, who refused to speak with me and stated she would not issue a refund under any circumstances. VRBO did nothing to resolve the situation, leaving me frustrated and dissatisfied. Its very disappointing that VRBO does not ensure basic comfort or better support for renters in these situations. I expected more from such a large platform.Review from Matt F

For the record., NEVER use VRBO.COM .They are ill equipped for the air bnb type service they claim to provide... a total joke.Totally left us hanging in the middle of ******* with no solve trying to check into our spot. Then customer service was barely literate and blew us off... took us 3 hours to solve the issue ourselves and get off the streets of ******* sitting there w our luggage and goods. I rented a property in ********** ** through VRBO, When we arrived it was full of cockroaches and we didn't stay. We sent them pictures and placed 2 complaints. After almost a month I had to call again and I was told that this could have been solved another way, by cleaning or something else. Really? Cleaning cockroaches? They denied a refund, they kept the money. They are thieves! They'll find any excuses not to return your money. Don't use this service, save yourself the trouble.Review from Gregg K

Will never use this company again. Zero compromise in an unfortunate situation took our $1,000 and ran. Had reservation and unfortunate situation and family have to change reservation be on 7 days and they would not allow it. We'll go to ****** whose policies are for their customers unlike the ********************** it was all about greedinessReview from Zachary L

Dont use vrbo. Our property was completely different than what the post said so we ended up leaving after one night. Vrbo does not care at all. Have reached out 20 times about getting a refund and have not been contacted back once. Was told case was escalated a month ago to find out they had closed it without notifying us. Has been the worst experience i have ever endured with a rental agency. Stay away!!!Review from Rolando H

They don't even deserve a one star. I opened an account with ********************** August 2024. I followed all the instructions for creating my host account and my tax form. I was under the impression that I had completed my responsibilities as a host. I discovered I cannot add my wife as a co-host like I can with their competitor. a few days later (August 9, 2024) I secured my first booking. Those *****s came and went and secured another booking. I noticed I had not been paid for the first booking so I decided to call VRBO and find out why. They advised me they hold the first booking till the end of the month for the first time. I asked for an explanation because their competitor doesn't do that. They could not give me an answer other than "it's their policy". My second booking came and went with a third on their way. Still no payment. I called VRBO once again and they told me that the second ***** fell under the policy and I will get that payment at the of the month with the first booking. August 30, 2024 still no payment. I called VRBO to find out the status of my payments. They said I had not attached my tax form. I explained to them they should have notified me and told them their website is not user friendly. I attached the form as they requested. On September 9, 2024 and five (5) bookings later and after numerous calls and a lot of frustration still no payment of any kind. September 13, 2024 I received payment for three bookings. They still owe me for two (2) bookings one being the first booking on August 9. The lack of a resolution has left me deeply frustrated. This has been an increasingly disappointing and frustrating experience. I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with VRBO.Review from Ray S

I wanted to rent a house for 4 nights but found that the air was unbreathable in the house. Downstairs was filled with industrial cleaning fumes and upstairs had only stagnant moldy mildewed air that could not be put through a CPAP machine over night. There was no way to get fresh air into the upstairs since all windows had old AC units that did not bring in fresh air. VRBO was told this four times on four different occasions and told me they spoke to the host or at least conveyed the issue to the host. At one point the host decided that he would provide me a refund for half of my rental if VRBO would show him how to do it. In the end both the host and VRBO decided that I could not get a refund since it was after the beginning of the rental date. Reviews I entered regarding the host and VRBO were deleted and I was not allowed to create another. I consider the issue a safety problem and the whole incident has the appearance of a scam. Seems once the host and VRBO get their money the guest gets nothing.Review from Desiree S

Been going back and forth between ins VRBO not host because wont reply. VRBO will ask for pics as proof have provided all proof requested and more. Every time I email what is requested I get an auto reply that the email as in replying to agent as told is no longer monitored. 1300. For a birthday surprise for nothing. Couldnt go due to inaccurate prop description. Both host and VRBO have confirmed I am due a full refund yet wont follow through. **** never use them again and have told fam and friends same. When i initially called agent said no worries we got it from here. I asked if I should cancel on my end was told no do nothing you will get all your money back. Called later to follow up and was told description looks right to me which it still isnt. I said well I have pics from before so. Provided payments. Pics. Host admission. Along with several agents. Asked they listen to call. Am just told it will be escalated which is what I was told June. Here we are and nothing. They didnt cancel my reservation so host acting like I stayed but they canceled my ins. So ins denied claim due to their cancellation I knew nothing about.
