I called First Call, a mobile mechanic service because my vehicle was immobile. It could not be driven, moved, or pushed in any direction. I made contact with them as soon as they opened, and said they would be right over and that diagnosis of the vehicle would cost $115. After waiting six hours they showed. Spent roughly about an hour diagnosing why my vehicle. They made the assumption that about controls module inside the transmission was the cause and charged me $135. I waited two days for the estimate which was $3,400 for the overhaul of the transmission. Working out of town I finally had a chance to inspect the truck, it took me 90 seconds to identify that the drive shaft had detached from the differential and rear axle. I showed the mechanic pictures. He apologized, agreed that had made a mistake and overlooked the real issue. He added that it was rare for that time happen but when I had looked it up, it was so common that a recall had been issued for this because this has caused others drive wheels to lock up which is exactly what happened to mine. If he had done a proper visual inspection and research I could have figured what took me five minutes of my day. Although claiming responsibility for having failed to do a proper inspection he is refusing to refund what I paid for him to do an incomplete service and issue guess work on what the cause was. I know he would have charged me for the transmission work, in addition to correction the real issue. I would have ended up paying double Im sure. All I want as a refund for services that were not provided. The mechanics name was *******.
