If I could give no stars I would. They were expensive and wouldn’t come to their set appointment(s). After the third attempt and missed work they charged us for a service contract. After persistent requests for a refund, we finally got our money back. They never came and we ended up with a great heating and cooling company now. Consumer beware!Review from Julia M.

You should let your customers know that it will cost close to 100 dollars to get a plumbing quote. Then the quote for repair should not be ridiculous. The repair kit costs about 50 dollars. It takes less than 30 minutes to complete the work. Why would you quote a price of over 600 for such work? We called another company and got the work done for very close to the price of your quote. Are you trying to take advantage of senior citizens?Review from Steve S

Came and fixed one thing to then break another thing, tried to charge me for a non-issue, now my house is damaged and they want money just to ***** the issue. Complete SCAM. Based on their **** and BBB reviews it looks like they're also making fake ****** reviews.Mike Williams Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc. Response

Mike's plumbing is extremely overpriced for the hot of work that was done. They did a simple bathtub repair that maybe took an hour that should not have cost so much! I've also had them work on my a/c. I was told that I could cancel a membership if I signed up but when I went to cancel they charged me a fee. I would highly recommend not using this company.Mike Williams Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc. Response

Good morning, we do not claim to be the cheapest in town but we do back up our work with the strongest warranties and guarantees in town including our Apples to Apples Price Match Guarantee. I see that you spoke with our representative Shawn 4 days ago and I do see where we gave our pricing upfront prior to beginning work and you authorized us to do the quoted work. Professional, licensed plumbers have many years of experience behind them that allow them to perform work quickly. We don't price by the hour, but by the job to keep our pricing transparent and upfront. As for the membership cancellation in 2021, you signed up in April to save money on the initial visit and signed for a 6 month minimum contract. When you then tried to cancel one month later, we did allow early cancellation but asked that you honor the contract and pay the initial savings difference from that first visit. Shawn did, however, offer to work with you to help resolve the current price concern situation. We are still willing to see what we can help with if you will allow us to do so.Review from Stephen L

I am buying a house in *********** **. I inspected the new sump pump and back up pump which were installed in March of 2023(6 months ago). I found the back up pump when turned on, sprays water all over the place at the check valve. When I called them about it they told me the person who purchased the pumps only had a 90 day warranty. Even with all the rain we have had in the past 2 days, the sump pit barely gets water. It has been extremely dry for the last 6 months so I know the backup pump has not ran at all in the last 6 months. So how does a check valve go bad when it hasn't been used in the past 6 months? It doesn't. In my opinion, this is clearly a case where it was put on and either not tested or tested and just left as is. They wanted $99 to come and give me an estimate to fix it which probably would be another $60 or more. I can't believe companies are willing to do work and not back it up for at least a year. But then I have had experience with this company before and they are all about finding ways to make money.Mike Williams Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc. Response

Hello Stephen, we always test our sump pump installs and the system was operating perfectly at the time of installation so we would appreciate not being falsely accused of misdeeds. The homeowner who purchased it in February purchased the lowest warranty option to save money on the service instead of a higher warranty option that was provided. However, we didn't say that we would not come out to check the sump pump for you as the new purchaser. We do have a service call fee to honor our licensed professionals' time to come and perform service, which we gave upfront so that there would be no surprises. If the issue was caused by our initial install, we would have fixed it for you. You didn't give us a chance to even look at the issue, but are still willing to do so.Review from Mosbah K

This is the worst plumbing company that I have dealt with in my 30+ years of living in the ********** ****** area. I called this company for a water leak in a bathroom. They send their *********** plumber who came in late with no moisture sensor. His suggestion was for me to tear the floor and find the source of the leak. So I did that and found that the source of the leak is a pinhole in a copper pipe in a very easy to reach area. I called to have the same guy come in and fix the leak. He looked at the problem, then went to his truck for nearly 30 minutes to come up with the cost of the repair. To my horror, his estimate for installing two 1.0 ft pieces of copper pipe ½” and ¾”, four connectors, and a T fittings was $1,536.00 (see the invoice). Yes, one thousand five hundred and thirty six dollars. The job would have taken an honest plumber about one hour. Total cost of the parts at a local hardware store is less than $30.00. The first visit and the work were done during week days at normal work hours. His response to this ridiculous charge is “in a real world this is a very high charge.” I called the company office on Neil Street to complain, but the cleric said the worker sets the rate, while the worker said the company does. . There is more to my experience with this company, but my recommendation to any of you is not to call this company. What they will tell you is they charge $99.00+ to send someone to look and the problem, but they charge by the job not by the hour. In my case, it would have taken about an hour to do the job, but that did not count since their motto is to rob you during daylight and much more at off hours. Also, do not fall for their membership fee scheme that is supposed to give you a discount. My job would still cost $1,230.00. the plumber said the Office sets the rate, but when I called the Office they said the work sets the rate. .Mike Williams Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc. Response

I'm sorry to hear you did not choose to have us do any work for you. Our State Licensed Plumbers with a fully stocked truck provide an extremely high qualtiy of service and our trip fee barely covers the cost of coming to do the initial diagnosis. If the $99 is what bothers you, please call our office and talk to our customer care team. 1-888-706-4545Review from Mike W

I signed up for their monthly service contract when I had 2 new water heaters installed to save money. Each time they came over (spring and fall) to do their check, they came up with literally thousands of dollars worth of stuff they claimed should be addressed. I know enough to know that most of this was overpriced and of questionable necessity. This morning I called to cancel my monthly service contracts. I was told that I had to provide a signature in order to do so, because you are registered with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That sounded very suspicious but more on that in a moment. I ate the complete inconvenience of driving over to the office on Clear Lake drive in Springfield. When I arrived I (probably a little heatedly) spoke about the ridiculousness of having to provide a signed document to cancel the contracts. The woman at the counter (don't know her name), just stuck with the mantra -- it is because we are registered with the Illinois Department of Insurance. When I pressed, she slid the window closed so she no longer had to talk to me. Wow, talk about poor customer service! In any event, I just got off of the phone with the Illinois Department of Insurance and there is fact no such requirement. Oddly, I can't file a complaint with them because Mike Williams is not an insurance company. In fact, IDOI doesn't even understand why Mike Williams is registered with them. My supposition is so that they can give their customers the ******** story they gave me in the hope that the inconvenience will cause them to delay or forget about cancelling. In addition to posting this review on as many review sites as I can find, I will also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as there in fact are laws (mostly as a result of similar practice by health clubs) to prevent businesses from doing what they are doing. I would strongly caution anyone who is considering using Mike Williams.Mike Williams Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc. Response

Hello Michael, I am surprised that you had such a strong reaction because when I listened to the call that you had with Sara that morning she told you that you could email the cancellation letter and you said you were already in town and would drop it off. We do not require an in person visit to cancel a contract and you were never told that. We do require a handwritten signature to enroll and cancel a contract because it is covering us legally as a company. We have certain contracts that are insurance policies on the HVAC or Plumbing system that we do get audited for yearly. She may have said the wrong name of the company that we get audited by, but the policy still stands that we require a signature for cancellation, which you can read on the initial document you signed for enrollment. You were yelling at her at the window while walking away and we had other employees on the phone with customers so she slid the window shut so that other customers could not hear what was going on. We do not allow our employees to be verbally assaulted by customers and will protect them.Review from L. D.

Total rip off. They don’t complete the work and charge high fees, when you call, it’s just excuses. Got stuck with maintenance contract and they left my toilet off for 2 months. How they still in business?Mike Williams Plumbing Heating & A/C Inc. Response

Hello Larry, I do see that you are already working with our customer care representative Kyle when you called and spoke with him on 6/5. We also came out yesterday 6/7 at the no charge warranty to address the issue that you called for. You didn't get stuck with a maintenance contract either, you signed and initialed for it on 4/24 to receive the 20% discount with the 6 month minimum requirement. However, as Kyle already is working with you he allowed an early cancellation without the termination fee. There have been no excuses so far, just us working towards helping you resolve your issues. Since you are currently in an open concern with our offices, I will add this to those notes for Kyle to follow-up with you.Customer Response

They should be in politics they way they spin a story. NOTHING was done until I complained over and over. They were trying to stick me with the maintenance contract until I kept complaining. Just stay away from them. There are many other reputable plumbers out there. They did not make any excuses OR take any blame for anything. They just don't care.....Review from Terry G

Mike Williams Co service techs are a bunch of crooks! Each time I think about how much money we have spent on their crooked dealings, I want to scream. They removed one of the 2 pumps on our hot water boiler furnace and never replaced it—said it wouldn’t work. They then tried to sell us a new furnace instead. They also signed us up for their monthly service charge which was supposed to reduce costs but never did. When we tried to cancel the service contract over the phone, they insisted we had to come into the office to do it. I explained we are older and my husband is ill, but they wouldn’t make an exception. I make it a practice to ALWAYS stay in the room when any service tech works in our home. When Mike Williams’ techs finished up their work on each job and were on their way out the door, they would always pretend they had left one of their tools behind so they could go back down to the furnace without me watching them. They did this every single time they came over. After about the 3rd time, I stuck right with the tech—despite my arthritis—as he literally tried to race downstairs and make some change on the furnace so we would have to call them back in! I overheard his cell phone call with his boss where the guy was asking him if either my husband or I were standing nearby! Why would he want to know that unless the boss had something underhanded in mind? We stopped using this company shortly after that.Review from Shari C

Call someone else!! Even if you have to wait! We had this company put in a water heater and signed a "maintenance" contract. As far as I know, the water heater is fine. When they came for their first "check," they completely ignored the water heater - it was "new" - they said, and after looking at our furnace for a few SECONDS, told us we needed a new furnace, or (fill in your own dire consequences here). We were given an estimate of $11,000+ and given a rush to get it started today. We called the company that put in our existing furnace 15 years ago and they sent someone right out. The ONLY reason we didn't have this company put in the new water heater was because they don't handle water heaters. Turns out, all our furnace needed was a $500 part for a BACKUP system. All their maintenance contract is is an excuse for them to come in and sell you something you don't need. And, the company we got the furnace 15 years ago from took one look at their "estimate" and told us that if we had needed a new furnace, they would have done all the same work for about half the cost. We obviously told the Mike Williams company that we would not do business with them and why. Did we get an apology? A call from the owner? No, some "fixer" from their company called us twice and tried to sweet talk us into not being upset. Avoid this company at ALL costs. If you get any kind of "estimate" from them, make sure you get a second opinion. It's a shame the BBB accredits companies like this one.
