    We had Babbs complete our radon system in June. In doing so, they messed up our sub pump. As a result of this, we got two feet of water in our basement which has never happened in 30+ years at this residence. Even when water *has* been in the basement, it has been no more than an inch. In addition, in August our meter read that we indeed have radon in our house (this is less than two months from them installing radon mitigation services). I called to speak to them & set up an appointment for someone to come out & help us with this. Dora **** was incredibly rude to me on the phone. She told me what I was saying “didn’t make sense” and when I told her I would be more comfortable to have someone come out and look at this when my husband was also home, she said, “I do not appreciate what you are insinuating”. She told me multiple times that they have a “reputable” business & have “never” had complaints & she did not believe me when I explained to her how the work had been completed. When you look at their ****** Reviews, there are many complaints that are very similar to ours. Interestingly enough, their ******** page shows they have 5 star reviews even though there are negative comments on there as well. I told Dora this & she said, “I could care less about ****** Reviews” & then she shared again how professional her company was & how they are licensed by the State of Illinois. Additionally, there is not a place on their ******** page for customers to leave reviews-- that feature has been turned off. She also told us that our insurance would cover water damage. The problem is that this water damage is a direct correlation to this company damaging our sub pump (which we did not find out until later). Mistakes happen, I am understanding of this. However, when a company speaks to it’s paying customers in this manner, it is appalling. We will NEVER use Babb Service again! Beware!

    This complaint by Alyssa ***** is full of untrue statements. Babb Service Company did install a radon system at this property on June 11, 2021. The radon system had absolutely nothing to do with the water in the basement. It is my understanding this water occurred around June 25 - 26 which is when there was torrential rainfall in ****** ******* ** and hundreds of homes' basements were flooded. Alyssa called our office on Monday, August 9th saying that the radon system we installed had caused water to come up all three floor drains in their basement and cause 2 feet of water in the basement. She said this had never happened in 30+ years yet they just purchased the home and moved in this year. I told her that the radon system could not have anything to do with water coming up her floor drains. A radon system draws soil gases from under the concrete floor and exhausts it outside. She said that we put a lid on the sump pit and the water coming up her three floor drains could not go into the sump pit to get pumped out. I explained to her that under the State of ******** Rule we are licensed under we must cover all openings to soil and the sump pit was a opening to soil. The purpose of a sump pump is to take ground water from under the slab and to discharge outside. Their sump pump was discharging into one of the floor drains. I scheduled Jerry (one of the owners) to meet with Alyssa's father, Frank ******** at the property the very next morning (August 10th). (I would not have any one from our company meeting with just Alyssa.) They found the sump pump was working and we in no way damaged the sump pump. The sump pump was discharging into one of the floor drains through a flexible hose at the same time the floor drain was backing up. The sump pump should have been discharging outside. Upon removing the lid from the sump pit, they found the pit was busted out inside and a 3 gallon bucket was holding the sump pump in the pit. We only installed cover on pit. The sump put was working fine at time of the meeting. The basement was flooded because they had the sump pump discharging into the floor drain. Alyssa stated that the radon system which was installed in June was not working and the meter read that they indeed had radon in their house. First of all there is no meter in the house showing the radon level. The man-o-meter she is referring to measures vacuum pressure in the pipe. The tube going from the pipe to the man-o-meter had been pulled out of the man-o-meter and therefore was not showing a pressure reading but the radon system was performing as it should. Her statement that I said her insurance would cover water damage is not true. I recommended they contact their insurance company but I would have no idea what their insurance would cover. Alyssa was extremely rude and continued making very derogatory comments about our radon techs and company. One actual statement she made was "two shady guys installed a radon system in our basement and we got 2 feet of water in the basement". I explained to her that we were licensed by the State of ******** and had been installing radon systems for over 40 years and that Kevin had been our licensed radon tech for 20 years and that our other radon tech has worked with Kevin for 15 years. I did say I do not recall ever having a complaint about Kevin and Tad. In all those 40+ years I have never had a customer as rude and verbally abusive as Alyssa. Regarding her statement that I don't care about reviews, I do care about reviews but I know that most of the negative reviews we have received including this one contain unfounded and untrue statements.
