On March 3rd I saw an online promotion from the Sumo Citrus company - the offer was that if you completed a few video modules and answered questions after watching, you'd receive a free "swag kit", including a branded beanie among other things. At the time, the website made no indication that this was only intended for distributors/retail partners. My partner and I each did the tasks which took about 10 minutes for each of us. However on March 21st we got emails saying that the giveaway was only for those aforementioned distributors. I tried reaching out to the company multiple times asking for an exception - given the fact that the website did not indicate that this was not open to the general public, as well as the fact that we had to take time watching videos and answering questions, I was asking that I could at least be sent one beanie, for my partner, as opposed to two full kits. I was ignored for over a week, then finally a representative answered me on Facebook Messenger and gave me a very short reply. I didn't appreciate the dismissive tone given what I just described, I explained that fact and since then I've been ignored. This doesn't feel acceptable to me. The company should have been clear that this was not open to the public (the link is publicly available as I saw it posted online, there wasn't any text about the nature of the giveaway which has since been added to the page, etc). I'd just like the company to honor the promotion, or at the very least, just send that one beanie. I wasted time and effort and the company failed to communicate that this promotion was not open to the public.
