I visited MK Smith Chevrolet looking for a **** Trax 1 RS. They had one on the lot I was interested in. ************** was the guy helping me to negotiate a deal. From the get-go, I told him very clearly that I did not give him permission to run my credit until a deal was negotiated.He asked me for my personal information and began filling out a credit application. **** reassured me that my credit would not be run without my permission and that he was only filling out the application to expedite the process in case we did come to an agreement.I gave him the information he requested, including my social security number. I told him once again that I did NOT authorize my credit to be run until he had made a deal.We went back and forth for a couple of hours and could not come to an agreement. The manager then "came to the rescue" and pretty much told me I had to purchase this extended warranty (an additional almost $4,000), which I declined. He told me that unless I purchased the extended warranty, they would not sell me the vehicle.I could not understand why they wanted to force me to buy the extended warranty. Extended warranties are optional, and it should be up to the consumer to accept or decline. I did not want the warranty, so I said thank you and walked out.Two days later, I found the car at another dealer and purchased it without any issues and without being forced to buy the extended warranty.This morning, I got a notification from Experian. MK Smith ran my credit WITHOUT my permission. This is enfuriating, and I am also concerned that they now have access to my personal information.Do not buy a vehicle from MK Smith Chevrolet. They have very unethical business practices.
