I contacted a member of the BBB group of companies and hired the Garage Door Depot because I needed to a completely new double garage door opening system. This included complete removal of a very old garage door system. I expected all parts in the new garage door system to be completely new parts and mechanisms and that the installation would be completed by someone who holds professional accreditation for installing a new garage door system. Last month ton a very cold winter day, the new garage door system would not open the garage door and my car was inside the garage. I phoned the Garage Door Depot and the receptionist refused to connect me with the General Manager. She said the General Manager told her to tell me that the fee to come out to my house to inspect the new garage door opener would cost me $200. This would include 15 minutes labour. I would be responsible to pay for any new parts. I heard the receptionist talking to the General Manager. I left a message requesting the General Manager to telephone me. He did not returned my phone call. I was without the use of my car for days and getting short on food. On the week end I noticed the mechanism that attaches the door to the chain that pulls the door up and down were not attached to each other. There was a loose screw hanging out of the door attachment and another screw on the ground. THE INSTALLER JUST STUCK TWO SCREWS TO TEMPORARILY HOLD THE GARAGE DOOR AND THE ***** MECHANISM TOGETHER. THE SCREWS POPPED OUT. THE GARAGE DOOR AND THE ***** OPENER WERE NO NOT ATTACHED. THE GENERAL MANAGER DID NOT PHONE ME. I PHONED ON MONDAY AND SPOKE TO A SALESPERSON WHO DID NOT WANT TO TALK TO ME. LATER, SOMEONE CAME TO MY HOUSE AND HE DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG UNTIL I POINTED OUT THAT THE DOOR AND THE OPENER WERE NOT ATTACHED. HE RE-ATTACHED AND BOLTED THE SCREWS. WHAT ELSE HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED CORRECTLY? WHAT NEW PARTS WERE NOT INSTALLED?
