I have water damage in my house, this weather, I have requested for claim as in policy said it’s cover, so far send me the adjuster to check my basement so far he didn’t open walls to inspection to see where water coming from, and the adjuster said to my wife this claim is cover by sandbox, When back from sandbox said not cover, as I have cracks in basement walls. So when coming this Heavy rain, I open one walls to see if water coming from the crack, so far walls is dry, but floor in my basement floor heavy with water. I will never use this company again for my home insurance.Review from Karin G

We were customers for 23 years with our home insurance, claims free. We also had cottage insurance for 11 years. We had a frozen pipe burst & water damage. We closed the cottage down the same way with no water issues for a decade, but that didn't matter to SMI. They will not be there for you when you need it, we are proof of that fact!

It took a year to settle this claim, that is not timely. As for fair, total bs. Anybody who knows our story, knows to stay away from insurance through SMI. I hope anyone reading my terrible experience will go elsewhere for their insurance needs.
