Approx. end of March/Apr 1, 2021 ***** Roofing asked us to move our car from our usual spot (see pic) to avoid damage when using dumpster and ramp on left side of house. Later when working on the right side we were told it was safe to park again with no protection, i.e. tarp, for possible neighbor damage at all. On April 5, 2021 we noticed damage to our car after witnessing a shingle slide towards our car. We were advised by the owner ***** ***** to get estimates for the repair that day (April 5). We scanned these to keep a copy. ***** took the original estimates to go 'check them out'. He never returned our estimates or contacted us. The next day, April 6, I emailed our insurance broker since we needed advice. **** went to ***** *****' home first week of May, no answer. We contacted ***** ***** via email May 20, 2021, no answer. This damage reduces resale price or trade in values.

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2021/05/25) */ ***************************************************************** ********************************************** A shingle blew off of the roof that we were working on and hit the neighbours car. The neighbour spoke to one of my employees about it. My employee called me right away. I instructed him to give the neighbour my business card, and to get his phone number for me. I tried calling him immediately and got no answer. I went and looked at the damage to his car that day. I told him that I would take care of the cost to have it repaired. He went out on April 5th and got two estimates to repair it. On April 6th, I messaged him three texts on which shop we would go with. He did not respond. On April 8th I went to the collision shop that is closer to his home. I spoke with the owner of the shop and told him that the neighbour would be bringing his car there to have it fixed and that I would pay for it. The shop said that he would have to call and make an appointment. I then called the neighbour to tell him that he needed to call the shop for an appointment. He did not answer, so I left him a voicemail. He did not call me back or message me. On April 9th I messaged the neighbour again asking if he got my voicemail and instructing him that he needed to book a date to drop off his vehicle. He did not reply to this message either. I had an advertising sign on the front lawn of the home that we were working on from May 9-22nd. The neighbour emailed me on May 20th at 4:02 pm, wondering why I have not been in touch about fixing his car. I emailed him back on May 21st at 6:17 am and then again at 5:07 pm. I have texted him 5 times, tried calling him 3 times and have emailed him 3 times. I have all of the messages, phone calls and emails saved. When I had not heard back from the neighbour, I assumed that he was not worried about having the small ding in his car repaired. Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2021/05/25) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) First off, we have a problem dealing with someone who can't get the facts straight. We dispute all his claims of attempting to contact us up to May 20, 2021, the date of our BBB complaint. We have detailed cell bills for periods from March 6-May 5, 2021 that covers his reported contacts in his response. The owner claims he called us April 5, no record. He said texted three times April 6, no record. He said called April 8, no record. He said he texted April 9, no record. The repair will take five days and we will be without a car and are disabled. Our insurance will not pay for a rental so we have opted to do the repair ourselves. We would be happy to settle this matter if the owner sent us an e-transfer to cover the costs of parts and materials as indicated in ******** estimate: Part II-replace factory tinted window and weather strip $295.50 and Part III-paint and waste fee $324.54 for a total of $620.04. Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2021/05/26) */ I told the neighbour that I would pay for the repairs to his car. He told me that he would borrow his sister's car while his was being fixed. I was fine with this settlement and still am. Once *************** has completed the repair, they can contact me so that I can settle the bill with them. I will not deal with the neighbour, that cannot call text or email me. Business Response /* (4000, 18, 2021/05/28) */ Here are my screenshots of the text messages that I sent to the neighbour which show the context of the messages and the dates, just as I had indicated. Consumer Response /* (2000, 22, 2021/05/29) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) After seeing the business owner's text, we do believe he was trying to contact us, but he had the last digit of our cell number wrong. Had it been correct we might not have had to complain at all. The owner gave us the cheque and we are happy with that.
