Todays Date: May 30, 2023 We purchased from Bruce Nissan, Coldbrook, Kings County, Nova Scotia, a 2020 Nissan Qashqai SV 4 DR 2WD. The serial number is: J****************. We ordered the vehicle on October 9th, 2020 and it was being shipped/driven down from New Brunswick. We received and signed for the vehicle at the Bruce Nissan dealership in Coldbrook, Kings County, Nova Scotia on October 15th, 2020. The car was sold to us as NEW, as that is what we paid for, was a new car. The vehicle looked beautiful. Now on May 23rd, 2023 we thought we would like to upgrade to a 2022 Rogue. When we phoned the same dealership and spoke with the Sales Manager, ******* ******, he said he would phone us back that day. He did not call us until May 25, 2023 and it was at that time we were told that our vehicle had been in an accident. We said no it has not! So we inquired as to the details of said accident. He informed us the vehicle was hit by a deer and that the repairs were showing as approximately $6,000. We denied it. I asked when this supposed accident happened and he said it showed about the deer and the estimate to repair the vehicle. I said when did this happen? He said it showed no further details. So a friend of ours works for a car company, so I asked if he would run a CarFax on our vehicle, giving serial number, etc. to see if or anything showed up there. It did show that it was involved in an accident on July 14th, 2020 (no mention of a deer) and the estimate was for $5,668. This accident showed it happened in Saint John, New Brunswick. We did not purchase said vehicle until October 9th, 2020. So obviously we did not have the accident. The vehicle was sold to us as a NEW vehicle, no mention of an accident. So my question is, where do we go from here. ******* ****** said he would check into it, but was very evasive, saying he was not informed of an accident and was as surprised as we were. The accident was not disclosed, I had another car dealership person look over the paper work, and it was not disclosed anywhere that it was involved in an accident. ******* ****** keeps referring back to a possible (1) digit was put in incorrectly, but whatever happened we should have been informed before we purchased the vehicle, as we would never have purchased it! I would appreciate getting a phone call from the Better Business Bureau to advise us what to do at 1-902-543-4247. As of now, our vehicle is worth far less due to it showing the car has been involved in an accident before we purchased it. Now he has suggested that he is going to try and have this taken off the CarFax, so that no accident shows. That is not right either and CarFax should never even consider doing this. What would be the point of having a CarFax! Thx you ******** J******* ****** *** ****** ******* ******Business response

Thanks for reaching out to us, this is most certainly an odd case because on new cars dealers are suppose to let other dealers know if there been an accident or any claims on the vehicle. Dealers don't run carfax on new cars because theres no history because its new.
We have called St.john Nissan and asked for information of what happened and when and that store has since changed owners and they couldnt be very helpful and theres nothing that the new owners can really do.
The previous dealer owner sent us the car and mentioned nothing and as the customer has stated the car looked beautiful and everything was perfect. there has been no issues mechanically since customer had ownership of car and either party in this would not have know anything different if ******* didn't do his job and check on the vehicle as a trade in. we would not have even dealer traded for the car if we would have known of a carfax on it.
******* has talked to the customer and said we would appraise the car as if there is no accident and give them top dollar on trade or buy it outright from them. which we feel is more than fair to both parties in this odd case.
Nissan as we know will not just give them a new car after three years, so we feel for the situation what we offer top dollar on trade or to buy the vehicle outright from them is our only two fair options as we didn't know of accident as well
Thank you and hope we can figure this out
