I paid for a ductless mini heatpump from Coastal Heatpumps ("CHP") on September 16, 2020, and they have not completed the installation or provided me a date on which they will, despite performing work for other clients less than 2km away. Attached is my invoice and correspondence. My heat pump purchase was for a Tiny Home I have constructed on Denny Island on the Central Coast of BC by Bella Bella. I purchased the unit from CHP due to the close proximity of their workers and equipment to my cabin (less than 2km) on the neighbouring island. CHP has had a presence in the area since 2020 as they were hired to install dozens of heatpumps in the community of Bella Bella, and have had two work vehicles located there continuously since then. They have flown up workers who are sometimes located in Bella Bella for weeks at a time. At the time of my purchase, my home was under construction and according to CHP Owner Don Guelvich finishing work on a single area of wall had to be completed before installation was completed by a CHP technician. As my home is on a neighbouring island it was agreed that I would provide boat transport to my home. On June 24, 2021, I asked Mr. Guelvich when this could be done as work was near completion, he informed me by telephone that CHP's workers had left the area but hoped to return in September. I received no advance warning that CHP's workers were leaving and would be unavailable. CHP did not arrive back until November, 2021. While a technician with the training to complete my installation was in Bella Bella performing work on heatpumps for a week in November, and despite my repeated inquiries and requests the technician did not complete my installation. As a result of CHP's negligence in failing to complete the installation I had to install baseboard heaters in order to provide the home heat during the winter of December 2021 and January 2022. CHP has not provided a firm date by which they will complete work.
