A week ago my household water was turned off by myself as I was preparing to fix a water supply line to a toilet. The repair was not going as expected, the new tap would not connect and without it the water could not be turned back on. I was also trying to remove a broken flange, without any success. This is when I called Blair Mechanical. I live in ********** and try to support local tradesmen when possible, the address given for the company was Summerland, with the usual 494 prefix on the phone number, an indication that it was a local company. I was surprised that the company turned out to be in Kelowna. The time was almost 5 so I was aware that I would be looking at after hours fees. The plumber arrived around 7 pm and had a look at the fitting. I had already purchased all the parts necessary but the fellow took parts from his truck to put on a supply line that is far too short to connect to a toilet tank. He was unable to remove the broken flange pieces and suggested that it be completed the next day. I declined the next day service as 11 November is a stat holiday and could wait another day to avoid the extra charges for having someone come out on a statutory holiday. I would have the work completed on Friday, 12 November. During conversation with the worker I discovered he was not a *** **** plumber but an apprentice. This explained why he spent most of his time here taking photos and messaging someone, then waiting for replies. See email for remainder of issue.
