Invoice:22-32 Date: July 27,2022 Work Completed: Pour concrete in back yard and sidewalk to alley Cost:$10,928 Inc tax We reached out to C-Ment in the early summer of 2022 looking to have our backyard a concrete pad going out to the back alley. They came and completed the job. Everything looked great and no complaints. We noticed some small cracking in November and then the snow came. In February of 2023 snow started melting and we started to notice multiple cracks in 7 sections. Multiple attempts to contact *******(Our sales person) with no response. An email was sent to C-ment and ******* finally responded. After a conversation he said he would come for a site visit. This took following up with him numerous times before he came. He took multiple pictures and mentioned that he thinks the water at the fence from the snow melting is the reason. I told him that is unacceptable. He mentioned that he will talk to **** and see what they will do. No one ever showed up again. I called weekly trying to get a response. ******* finally told me to call the office and talk to the owner, ****. I spoke to **** and he told me that the area is built on a swamp and there is nothing they can do about it. He said look at my sidewalk in the front, its cracked. The sidewalks that were poured in around 2006 all around me are in great shape compared to my backyard. I asked him to just come and look to see what his thoughts are and maybe something he can do about it. He agreed. **** never showed up. I called him every week for 3 weeks asking when he was coming. He kept saying next week. Finally I called him and said that everything he has been telling me is a line of ********.This is when he has hung up on me and has stopped answering any further calls.

I’m sorry there has been some hairline cracking in your pad.
I’d hope we could resolve this. Maybe try **** again without insulting and name calling so he doesn’t hang up after.
maybe the two of you can come to a resolve.

      ****** ******** *******

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 20308333. This is so petty from ****. No one insulted anyone. The only thing said was that "I am tired of being feed a line of bullshit that someone is coming to look at the job that was completed". C-ment has told me numerous times that they would come to site. They never did. Don't tell me your coming for 3 months and never show up.

I will call **** again to see what corrections he can do to correct the cracking concrete.

      Sincerely,
      *** *******

Hired to pour new sidewalks . Resulting work poor not only asthetically but drainage wise. The grade they set now requires me to regrade my whole property which was never my intent. Work not completed as per our discussions or as noted on the estimate. They have offered to do some regrade for an additional 8000.00 which will not correct the look or functionality. They have billed me for over 10,000, about 1000.00 more than original estimate. I have not paid them as yet and have asked that they correct the problems with the cement first.

This job was done in accordance with proper drainage for this yard. The customer told us she was doing landscaping and we also gave her a quote for this scope. The yard has negative slope towards house and this needs to be corrected.  The concrete sidewalks were prepped with proper elevations to correct these issues. The forms were in place before the pour for a day or two when customer could have organized a cancellation of the pour with us to address her concerns. The sidewalks were poured successfully. With landscaping done after these concrete sidewalks set the new grade in order to protect the structure from water flowing towards house. The idea was to remove crowned grade from front yard and move to back yard to raise elevations to the proper grade. I understand the customer did not completely understand this scope to fix the negative drain issues and was willing to give a discounted price to do the rest of landscaping in addition to a retaining wall at the garage area. I am willing to discount even more for this corrective scope and come to an agreement to finish job properly.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not tell the company I was going to regrade the property only that I was making some landscape changes in the backyard (adding a garden) so their bring in of equipment on my lawn was not a concern. This is an older home and certainly has had some grade shifting. I have never had water in my basement and although I expected some minor adjustments I did not budget for an additional 8000.00 regrade job. Further to that the slope of the front sidewalk is too steep and, as confirmed by my landscaper the backyard is not going to drain properly. I do not accept the sloping ramp at the backdoor. It is unsightly and awkward not to mention dangerous when icy. I do not accept this work. This is not what I wanted. I will have to hire someone to take up this work and redo it. Sincerely, ***** *********
