We have signed a contract with Brookfield residential on April 13, 2021, to build a house for us in **********/ Calgary Alberta. We got possession on March 2nd, 2022. During the selection of the material, we chose an alder wood material for our cabinets, which was supposed to be a combination of veneer and solid wood ( please see the ********). However, after the possession, we noticed that the cabinets are entirely veneered (the cheapest material on the market), and no solid wood has been used in our cabinets. I have contacted Brookfield multiple times and asked for a replacement or compensation. However, Brookfield is not willing to compensate me in any form or shape. Please find the signed addendum (showing the wood material selection, combination of veneer and solid wood). Although they have admitted that some parts of the cabinets should be built from both solid wood, there is no sign of solid wood in my cabinets and my communication with Brookfield residential indicated that they have no intention to reimburse me for providing me with this poor quality, cheap material (please see the ********). We would like to get compensated for our cabinets. Please let me know if you need more information.Business response

The homeowner completed selections at our showroom in August of 2021. At this time, an alder veneer cabinet selection was made. Our cabinetry supplier uses a combination of both solid wood and veneered product when producing cabinets based on the profile and finish selected. This is identified in our Options and Upgrades Agreement which has been included as a supporting document titled Addendum 7 in this complaint. This disclaimer does not indicate that both solid and veneered product will be used in every home. In this case, a veneered product was produced and installed based on the profile and species selected. Our supplier does not offer complete solid wood cabinetry as an option or upgrade opportunity.
This information was provided to the homeowner on May 10th, 2022. Brookfield has committed to ensuring that any and all deficiencies identified will be resolved within the appropriate scope of work and product specifications. The homeowner is in contact with, and is being supported by, several members of our customer care and management teams in order to facilitate this.
