Title: Extremely Disappointed with iRobot's Service and Repair CostsRating: ?????I purchased an iRobot vacuum with the expectation of convenience and efficiency, but have been met with nothing but frustration. For about a few months, the vacuum has incessantly complained about the bin not being properly closed, despite numerous checks and adjustments on my part. Seeking a solution, I contacted their customer service, which, while courteous, ended up wasting about 25 minutes of my time walking me through basic troubleshooting steps that led nowhere. Their final suggestion was a repair that would cost me $250. This is utterly unreasonable, considering the vacuum itself is not much more expensive than the quoted repair cost. It seems illogical to pay such an amount for a repair that may well be due to a manufacturing fault. The lack of a reliable product and the high costs for repair have left me extremely disappointed. I am now considering purchasing a different brand of robot vacuum entirely, as it appears more cost-effective than continuing to invest in a faulty product. I expected much better from a well-known company like iRobot and am dismayed at the poor value and service I've received. Buyers, beware of potential hidden costs and be prepared for a possible letdown.Review from Brandon L

I have owned several roomba robots from Irobot and they have done well for the most part. My issue is the customer service or lack there of when it comes to repairing an item. The company will push you to use the trade in program stating that a vacuum is not repairable when in fact it can be repaired. I understand that many people are not willing to take the time or may not have the technical ability to take a robot apart to fix an issue, but if an item can be repaired then do not say it cannot be. I have an S9 and was receiving a "dropoff/cliff" error. After contacting customer service I was asked to do basic troubleshooting. Once I had completed the actions requested, I was instructed that the robot was not repairable, but I could use the trade in program to get another. After asking why it cannot be repaired I was told, " The issue is unrepairable, because it is caused by the Cliff sensors, which are part of the unit itself, therefore they cannot be replaced. If there was an option to replace a part or repair the device we would always offer this option, because our customers satisfaction is our main priority."After looking at the bot, I realized I was able to take it apart and clean each sensor lense and put it back together within 60min and the robot works again. This provides me two thoughts, either the company doesn't want to take the time to repair something easy because it's more profitable to just say it's not repairable and buy a new one, or they do not really care about taking care of their customers because we are a dime a dozen. If a company is going to state that something isn't repairable then it should litterally be unrepairable, but to say that because you don't want ro waste your time doing it is not right. Be upfront with your customers and just tell them it's not cost effective to repair certain things due to cost. For how much a new robot would cost, the 60 min of time I spent saved me a lot of money in the back end.Review from Michelle L

I own the S9 +. This robot sells for over $1000. From the day it arrived it has never been under our control. I set schedules and it ignores them running when ever it likes. Most of the time it believes it is vacuuming when it is sitting still according to the app. I have been on with customer service many times with no effect. Finally we decided it had to be set back for repairs. They asked for a receipt and a 3 second video of the problem. There is no way you can make a video showing the error in 3 seconds. They told me to post the video on ******** Later they told me they could get to the video and stopped talking. I'm stuck with an expensive tool that doesn't work and they are not willing to help. This is a terrible company for customer service. The video thing is a scam to stop people from sending back defective machines.Review from Matt H

IRobot has been the worst investment I have ever made in a household items. I have had to interact at least 6 times. One time the company tried to stall long enough to void my warranty. I even paid for the extended warranty and needed service and they denied I had a warranty. I now have a major connection issue and they are not responding at all. This company does not stand behind its product.Review from Kevin W

Bad experience spending money to buy roomba. Bought i4 roomba brand new and within a year got a complaint. Within warranty period got a refurbished replacement as other one cannot be repaired. Close to two years again ******* saying battery not detectable. Bought new battery of irobot brand from ******* and sane issue. Customer support wanted me to purchase battery from their site and they do not have a guarantee if that fix my problem or not. Why to spend more money on this company products when it is not durable and making faulty parts.Review from Trina M

I just bought a new Roomba to replace my old one. I called them to find out where my owners guide was. I could not understand the person and they keep talking anyway and very fast, and talked right over, I could not ask a question. then he transferred me and I talked to another person could not understand him and could not hear him clearly, he did say they DON'T include anymore, so I went online as he had said I needed to do while I was talking to him and I said OK I am online where is it I am on the official site and page, he said oh I have sent you a link, I said no, where is it on line, he said oh I have to connected you to technical and put me on hold while on hold I established an account. And then I found it myself online while on hold, at the bottom of the page and had to click a few times, because page not very good, and at this time another had come on and I could not understand one word she said. So, I can get answers to what I wanted to ask, so I will go thru the owner's guide and try my old virtual walls I had before to see if they work, because you can get any information from them. Next time I will a different brandReview from Amy G

I owned a shark previously and it worked pretty good. It wasnt a fancy one but it did its job. After several years, it finally died. I decided I wanted to get the robot mop (I have a husky and muddy paw prints are a huge problem 3 out of the 4 seasons) and wanted to get a vacuum that talked with the mop so I switched to iRobot. I started with the i3 which did its job but after 7 months (literally the day after I put in replacement parts that were not iRobot) I smelt something burning and the brush melted to the metal part that it rests on. I do not believe it happened because of off brand replacement parts, but I knew they wouldnt cover it so I decided I needed a new one. I thought long and hard about which device I was going to purchase this time. I was debating between the i5 self emptying and the j7 not self emptying. I have a 19 year old dog who has incontinence issues occasionally (esp when Im at work) so I decided I would go with the j7 as its guaranteed not to run over pet waste. I bought the vacuum at **** on 3/24. Came home today to find it covered in pet waste. Called the company and sent in pictures of the device covered in ****, my floors covered and my digital copy of my receipt. I was first told my receipt wasnt valid because it didnt have a shipping address (I bought it in the store) when I finally argued that point enough, I then got the excuse that it did not say **** club receipt on the digital receipt. Its clearly printed at the top of the receipt. After arguing for over an hour and requesting multiple supervisors, hanging up and calling back to get a different agent, they finally agreed to accept my receipt and will send me a new one. I have never had a company that made things this difficult or one that refuses to honor a digital receipt. When this machine dies and I need to replace it, it will 100% not be an iRobot product
