            As of January 24,2023, the Office of the Attorney General has entered into an agreement with Liberty Bell Moving and Storage Inc., and its owner, Kevin Finkenaur, after an OAG investigation found the company in violation of the federal Consumer Review Fairness Act, the Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act, and regulations for businesses that engage in interstate moving operations.

            It has come to BBB’s attention that Liberty Bell Moving & Storage, Inc. has a non-disparagement clause on its consumer contract that prohibits customers from filing complaints or posting negative reviews as a result of a marketplace interaction. Such practices are prohibited and BBB does not withdraw complaints under these circumstances. Consent to post the text of a complaint is solely at the discretion of the customer.

            As of 12/7/2021 the business’ clause, which is found in its contract, states: - “By electronically signing this OFS, If you opted for less expensive hourly or non bindingpricing. You must understand that we’re do the ing this move site unseen and are not guaranteeing that we will be able to honor the exact load date noted on the OFS. While it is ALWAYS our intention to honor date(S) noted on the OFS, sometimes due to FMCSA drive time regulations beyond our control, this is not always possible. Therefore, you or anyone affiliated with you agree to not post ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS against Liberty Bell Moving & Storage whatsoever. Any bad reviews posted against Liberty Bell Moving & Storage on any social media platform or review sites will be deemed false and defamatory thus making the signer of this document liable in court for punitive damages. Also, a $1000 defamationmanagement fee will be added to the cost of the move if negative reviews are not removed after 3 days from being posted. You will be notified of this from [email protected]. This stipulation does not apply for Binding estimates where a pre move walk thru has been conducted, and a date guarantee surcharge added to the binding estimate.”

              I booked company for 8/14 @ 8am. I received the conf text as well that my deposit was recvd On 8/14 I sent an email as I had not heard from the movers. I recvd a text from ***** stating that their computers were down and should be to me by 10am.The movers showed up at 2:15 costing me 6 hrs of lost work time. tThe movers said that they were at another job and the system wasnt down. The mover also said you didnt buy the insurance. I dont feel that the movers should know that. So they know they can have 0 regard for your items because you didnt choose the insurance.This was the most unorganized chaos I have ever seen in my life! They took all of my items down the elevator and left everything sitting in the hallway for anyone to take. Several times I went down to see what was going on as it was taking ***** for them to bring one item down. There were several times where one of the movers was standing there talking to the other mover. I started being stuff to the truck as here was no sense of urgency on their end. I then stood there and watched them argue about how to get the ramp back in for ***** min- that is not my problem and should not be charged for that time. We then went to the storage facility and one of the movers dragged my bureau down the ramp that even a 5 year old would know it would cause damage.Lastly, as the movers were leaving they backed into a rock wall and knocked a tree over falling on the power lines.I texted ***** to make him aware with no response. I did receive a bill for $271.25 for what Im not sure.I declined the invoice as the business had not responded to calls/ text or email. They then debited the $271.25 from my debit card that I used for the deposit without my consent. I have called several times and emailed with no response.I want to be credited back the total amount. I should not have been charged extra for the employees taking their sweet time. I should also be compensated for the 6 hrs and having to have tree removed:. More pics

              I cannot encourage you strongly enough to stay away from this company. I hired them to receive, store, and then transport furniture and decor to a new house. At first we were very happy with their communication. Upon delivery, however, when we assessed what had been received, we realized that a number of items were missing. At first they told us that they had never received the missing products. They went so far as to tell us that they had reviewed the security footage from the reported delivery dates of those goods and could confirm that they were not received. Then, however, I tracked down delivery receipts from the delivery companies. Slowly but surely Liberty Bell started to somehow find our "undelivered" items in their warehouse. (In their defense, two of the items had not been properly sidemarked by the shipping company. The rest of the misplaced items were completely Liberty Bell's fault.) Liberty Bell refused to deliver the goods that had been misplaced by them. We had to pick them up from their warehouse. I eventually reordered the products that they still hadn't found. They have refused to credit me for this replacement cost. They ended up finding the smaller and cheaper of the two items after I had already ordered a replacement. They refused to pay my return costs for the replacement. Nearly four weeks later, they still haven't found the $1300 table that the owner himself signed into the warehouse upon delivery, and nor will they credit us for its replacement. Liberty Bell had also delivered to us multiple items that were not ours (i.e. that were owned by other paying customers of theirs). Though I told them this multiple times, as I write, nearly four weeks from their initial delivery, they still have not picked up the items.
