Spa Nijoli seems to have an unofficial policy that if you miss some appointments you need to pre-pay for the entire service. Sometimes they do not ask for any pre-payment, other times, they ask to hold your credit card on file, or require a 50% deposit, other times they insist on the entire payment upfront! It's inconsistent, feels unethical and the legality of this is questionable. When did I agree to allow them to store my CC information indefinitely? They do not seem to have a clear cancellation process / fee that is consistent, transparent and applicable to ALL. Hair /nail salons are not typically a pre-paid service. People sometimes need to cancel appts unexpectedly. That is standard with this type of business. Quietly forcing select clients to pay for an entire service (before the service has been performed / or when client need to cancel less than 24 hours prior) is unethical. Most businesses charge a standard cancellation fee. If clients knew upfront they were going to have to pay for an ************** ($100-300+) if they cancel in less than 24 hours, they would not go to this salon. Recently, I was asked to pre-pay for a hair appt (over $200.00). I did not debate, but this is exploitative and I do not see how it's legal. Other times, I've been charged for an entire ******************* because I called **** hours before and asked to reschedule because I was ill or had a work conflict.As a side note: The business also calls clients routinely & cancels appointments last minute and does not offer the client any discount or recompense. So it's okay when they do it.. This is blatant price gouging and it's wrong.
