I took my car in to this shop for a simple oil change. At the time I authorized the radiator to be flushed and add/replace fluids. I picked up my car, paid $180.88 and drove from Marlboro to Acton and parked, whereby all the fluid drained out of the radiator into the parking space. I had to call AAA to tow the vehicle back to Midas. I waited all day before my car was looked at and was told I suddenly needed a new water pump, a hose, a new thermostat, and the vehicle speed sensor was not working. I authorized all to be worked on, though my car was fine when it was going in for a simple oil change and suddenly I needed all this work done? I know this is how these types of places make their money. Not from simple oil changes but identifying additional work they say is then needed.When I was called to pick up my car I was told the total was $740.54 and that the speed sensor still didn't work but I was being charged for the parts and labor nonetheless. I went to Midas and I was given a hard time by a staff member. I wanted to pay the invoice and leave as quickly as possible. I did not want to engage in any conversation. I stated I wanted the invoice and to pay and leave. I did not argue about the work or complain about the expense or how this turned into my needing so much work done. The staff person threatened to call the police. He stated he was friends with all of the *************** and they would come as soon as he called. I told him if he wanted to call them, go ahead. He may have thought I was an undocumented immigrant and that I would be fearful of this threat. I simply wanted the invoice to pay and get out. I am female, was alone in the shop, and have an accent. There was no cause for threatening me with police as I did not ask for anything other than to have the **** and to pay it. I would not wish any non Native English speaker to go through this experience. I will never take any business to this shop and would warn others to avoid them. I am suspicious of the work they did and perhaps they actually caused more problems that needed more repairs. To then to be treated so badly and threatened to have the cops called was totally unwarranted. I do not believe I would have been treated this way if I was an American. As for the $32.99 oil change turning into a $900 ****, it is possible everyone that goes to this shop can be victim to that.
