      My husband and I purchased a vehicle on a Friday afternoon. The owner was nice enough to open after hours and allowed us to take our time in making a decision. The vehicle we purchased broke down less then 12 hours later. My husband called the dealership and was told if we get the car towed to his mechanic, he would make sure it gets fixed. It was towed to our house first, and then to his mechanic that Tuesday afternoon. The next day we were told the car needed more work then was originally thought, I called the dealership expressing my concern and stated we needed some type of a resolution that day. Neither my husband nor myself can afford to miss work and we can not afford to get a rental. He did state he was unable to promose a specific time as to when the car would be repaired, which is understandable. To be clear, I don't think it was the fault the dealership the vehicle broke down. The owners willingness to fix it proves that. And I am grateful he is willing to do so. However, he stated he would call my husband back with an update because women tend to get emotional and he didn't want to deal with that. Later when my husband went to the dealership, he told my husband the same. He also stated "If you have a ******, you do not have the ability to control your emotions. They just can't help it. Only men have the ability to think logically. " By his own admission, when I called I was not emotional. I was professional, yet firm on where I stood. Emotional or not, it is within my rights to be treated the same as any male in the same situation. When I called, what I wanted was either a different vehicle or a refund. I expected him to understand our position and do the right thing. Instead I was stereotyped and discriminated against. My concerns were dismissed. He made it clear I was irrelevant when he stated ," She may be good at her customer service job, but that doesn't translate over to the real world ".
