Billing department invoiced item not covered by insurance during annual visit. The item was identified as "psychological evaluation" when in fact it was not requested - there is no record of complaint, identified symptoms, diagnosis, or prescribed medication.Explanation was that the charge was accepted based on the fine print wording in the consent forms filled!Because of the for-profit nature of the business, the business is focused on increasing revenue.Review from Roz J

My first time here and worst experience. I called and scheduled my annual physicals as they were in network with my insurance. When I got to the facility on the day of my appointment I checked in at the front desk and they confirmed I was there for my annuals. I met with ********** (she was pleasant) and told her I just wanted the regular annuals done. She sent me to the labs and I left. Two weeks later I got a bill from Quest Diagnostics for 4 tests I was responsible for. I called my insurance and they told me the code submitted was not for a routine test. So I had to reach out to the billing department to get that fixed. I called the customer service line at ********************************************* and was told they could not do anything about it, (that was a lie and a way to brush me off). I went on to ****** and wrote my reviews and finally got a response to email the billing and patient relations. After a few emails, I was told the issue was escalated to patient billing to correct the code. After a month I followed up again and was told ****** (patient relations) was on vacation. Has she been on vacation for a month or did she not want to fix her mistake? Her assistant called me yesterday (7/2/24) and said they have corrected the 3 lab tests but the 4th one I need to pay. I asked WHY??? why was I not told beforehand that a test would be performed and would not be covered by my insurance? ****** (assistant to patient relations) said some insurance covers and some don't. Then I have the right to know before you start running lab work. I was not informed of the tests being performed. I have been doing my annuals at other facilities for years and never got billed for annual physicals. I requested ***** to escalate this and send me an email following our conversation but she didn't. No one wants to own or do their work here properly at this facility. I am left with a bill to chase around Southeast Medical so that they can fix their mistake.Southeast Medical Group Response

07/05/24 Update: After contacting the billing department, a representative reach out as well as the office manager to provide us with further insight on your matter below:
Billing: The patient had an issue with her Quest bill. Her insurance has paid her medical bill. ******** and Quest bills are handled thru the office manager. We have sent several emails to the office manager to contact the patient.
Office: The manager was already handling this concern and spoke with patient this week as patient mentioned in her response. The issue is that for some of the labs that the provider ordered, they are not considered preventative by her insurance company, so they are not covering them.
Thank you.

I followed my longtime doctor to the ***************** of North Atlanta Primary Care. He has now retired and ever since the practice became part of Southeast Medical Group, dealing with the office has become a nightmare. Most recently, my prescription refill request was ignored from May 8th to May 20th. My pharmacy submitted the refill request on May 8th and after days with no reply, I followed up in the patient portal. When there was still no response, I called and left a voicemail (I tried to reach a human being at the *****************, but finally gave up). Neither my pharmacy nor I received a reply of any kind until May 20th when I heard from the doctor in the portal who apologized for the delay and said he had been on paternity leave. I wrote him back and thanked him for taking care of the refill but pointed out that a practice should never ignore one of their patients for as long as I was ignored, and asking if he could assure me that things would get better. GUESS WHAT? No response after seven days now. Unfortunately, this isnt the first time Ive had to practically beg for a prescription refill, but it is definitely the most egregious case of non-communication I've had from this practice. I see from other complaints here that I am not alone.Southeast Medical Group Response

Second year in a row where I am being billed for my annual wellness check AND the labs that are included with my insurance plan. Unfortunately this is unacceptable and I hate having to make this complaint since my provider and the healthcare workers who actually take care of me are amazing. Billing & administrative staff, not so much. Please be considerate of people's finances and update insurance when asked!Southeast Medical Group Response

Went in for an annual/physical 12/2022 and was charged $400+ for the visit and $65 for the labs. There was no issues discussed with the provider. She examined my neck and thought there may be a enlargement. She recommended to get an ultrasound. At no time of the visit was I verbally informed of potentially having to pay for the visit. Office claims they rebilled insurance but I am still getting statements in the mail. Practice manager states the lab bill would be from the ** ordering ************** bill from practice is claimed to be from an office visit billed to insurance due to findings after examination. Be warned the provider will ask numerous questions and attempt a thorough examination just to find a reason to bill you insurance more than what is necessary. I would not recommend anyone to this practice as they are scheming to get money from insurances and patients.Southeast Medical Group Response

This preview is based on the billing practice that during a physical if you happen to request refills of your medication, you are billed an extra amount of money outside of the physical appointment. I was not told that is the dr submitted refills that I would be billed extra. My rating would have would been a 1 for that unfair practice, but the service and the people that work there are very nice, which is why I am rating a 2Southeast Medical Group Response

I have been a patient when they were still North Atlanta Primary Care, they have continued to be who I choose as my PCP for all my health needs. I trust them enough to refer my Mom over to the practice. She was recently having swelling in both of her lower extremitys. I called and was able to get an appointment right away the same day after being triaged over the phone. My fear was that she might have a DVT. The provider saw her and of course wanted to make sure it was not a DVT and ordered an ultrasound. Luckily, they also perform ultrasounds at the practice. The ultrasound schedule was filled already since her doctors appointment was one of the last appointments in the day but they were incredible, and the ultrasound tech agreed to have her added onto the schedule and stay a few minutes more. Thank goodness the ultrasound showed Mom did not have a DVT and relieved so many fears. This is a great practice and that is why we will continue to come here and refer the practice to whoever asks us for a reccomendation.Southeast Medical Group Response

Ever since they merged with SE Medical group, it is frustrating to get any answers about anything! I've tried emailing the Dr and PA for refills and no responses. Left voice mails...no responses... I have been a patient here for 8+ years and never had issues in the past.... as I said this new group is not up to snuff. I may have to consider moving to another practice if this doesn't change quickly. The doctors are fine, the system is AWFUL!!! I go to ******* **************** location, so I see it is the same problems across their whole system.I just called, waited on hold 20 minutes and got flipped to the useless voice mail I have tried 3X before. Unbelievable!Southeast Medical Group Response

I tried twice now to make an appointment. I have never been there so I thought to call first. Not only did no one pick up, but the option to leave a message wasn't working. How sorry, I won't be going there.Southeast Medical Group Response

Horrible. Long time patient and the office service is so very poor. This complaint is not about the doctors...it's the office personnel. You cannot call to get an appointment....you are told to wait for the next available representative. You are never connected to one. After holding so long a recording says you have to leave a message. It just doesn't let you do it. Also, it says you can leave a voice mail by pressing 10 at anytime and they will return your call.....but if you press 10 a recording comes up that says no one is available to take your call and hangs up. If the doctors don't take note on these issues they are going to lose their patients. So, if you are not computer literate (as many of the elderly are not) there is no way to contact your physician for an appointment.Southeast Medical Group Response
