I hired Georgia Outdoor Services to install a retaining wall in my sloped front yard to address erosion problems. Per our contract agreement, they were to install a 26ft x 4ft - 1.5ft pavestone 8 block wall. Their sales associate, *************************, confirmed that the wall would not require a city permit as long as it was less than 4ft in height. After the wall had been installed, I received a notification from my community HOA stating that the I required a permit for the wall because a portion of it was up to 5ft in height. In addition, I would need to have an inspector or engineer of record assess the wall for proper installation and inspect and approve it for structural safety. A licensed structural engineer inspected the wall and determined that it was neither structurally sound nor safe, and it would have to be demolished and rebuilt to comply with the Current Mandatory Codes of Georgia. I have made several attempts to communicate with Georgia Outdoor Services regarding these findings, all of which have been ignored. I always found Georgia Outdoor Services to be prompt in their responses before they received my money, but totally absent after they had been paid in full. Seeing that this company has received several good reviews for their services, I am quite disappointed that my experience has been the opposite and suspect that their nonchalant attitude might be influenced by my gender, race, and age. Overall, I would give this company poor ratings on their work and customer service and I would not use them again.
