When researching for a new home, I heard very good things about Pete ******** and American Craftsman Homes from my realtor. I decided to look at their new construction projects in the Forsyth River Forest community. The community of River Forest is very beautiful - the people are friendly and the population is somewhat diverse. The golf course is absolutely gorgeous and quite challenging which makes for a desirable experience for avid golfers! River Forest is also a gated community - as a single woman this was very comforting to have.

I chose to pursue a new construction property by American Craftsman Homes that was partially finished. There were many small incidentals during the build process that in retrospect were warning signs to cut the deal. I continue to blame myself for not listening to that still small voice of caution. ACH homes are aesthetically beautiful; however, once I closed and moved in my experience is likened to putting lipstick on a pig. The builder's attention to detail is very poor. In order to receive the certificate of occupancy, temporary finishings were installed which ended up taking 4 months to replace. My landscaping was installed with a one year warranty. However, each time I present the builder's superintendent with an issue concerning landscaping he refers me to Elite Lawns, who in turn makes excuses to avoid having to correct grading, flooding, poor seed and sod install, etc. Cabinet doors are damaged, door framing is damaged, some of the window frames were improperly installed. I could go on but you get the picture. Small things that are frustrating individually but as the number of small things begin to increase it becomes very dissatisfying.

I have reached out to Pete ******** for response and correction. Each time he redirects my issue to my then realtor, Lisa Alexander who by the way now works directly for Pete's new subdivision in Lake Oconee. A position she was offered directly AFTER my closing, which makes me question the ethics of it all. And certainly explains why Pete only spoke and talked to her at the closing as though she were the buyer.

Bottom line is this, River Forest is a beautiful community with many available lots to build. If you choose to live here please contract a different builder because ACH will build you a pretty pig! And no matter how you dress a pig it's still a pig. I thought I purchased my dream and forever home. Unfortunately, I am putting it on the market and moving once again. Many people have provided positive reviews with ACH - I wish I could report a better experience because it sucks to be inconvenienced with another relocation. However, I have to speak my truth in hopes that it will prevent someone from repeating my mistake in choosing ACH as a "custom" builder.

I have one email communication from you where you requested that we take down trees due to the neighbor across the street from you not having trees. The email also stated that you were not happy with some seeding that did not take. I did forward this email to Lisa and communicated to her that if there was a grass issue then that would be addressed and corrected. If there are outstanding cosmetic issues these will be addressed as well. As I understand from Rob he has been in contact and at your property every so often since you have closed on your home. It seems like he was just there earlier this week helping you with your fan. We do regret that some things have taken longer to clear up. My superintendents will stay in touch with you and clear up any unresolved issues that you have.
