First, my opinion here based on last weeks situation. There was a Throttle Position Sensor (***) light on the dash, along with the traction control light. Had the car towed to them because they are a Dodge dealer. The car went into limp mode as Spouse was crossing onto a 4 lane rd. Told the service tech the trouble light being on. Said they will diagnose. Was told there is no code showing up on the ODB2 scanner! How can there be a light on the dash (actually 2 lights ) and there be NO CODES on the reader??Two days later, I get a call that told me that I need new radiator hose, new head gasket and new power steering pump as it as leaking. WOW, all that from a Throttle Position Sensor indication. No mention of the *** from them, all we wanted repaired was (is) the ***. Did not diagnose the *** trouble code as they said, there is none showing. No trouble code on a car that went into limp mode?? New head gasket?? Water in cylinders? Power steering pump leaking? Radiator hose leaking? All from a diagnoses of *** trouble code? Was told after heavy discussion, they could not and will not fix a throttle body (no, the throttle Position sensor!) Quoted$1600 to %5200 for repairs. This brings back my feelings of distrust for dealers. I thought this kind of misleading, lying, money hungry activity was lost in the past, rather than worse today. What a scam, to try for more money on not needed repairs with no diagnostics! Leaves me with a feeling that this dealership is a bunch cheats, liars and money hungry people. How can anyone work in their service department and not guilty, feelings of regret, dishonesty, and this includes the Managers! No code for all those quoted repairs! No code for the trouble lights on the dash, WOW! Sickening
