On Tuesday May 3, 2022, we had a technician from E. Smith come out for our seasonal inspection. He noticed a clog in the drain and a faulty valve. He told me he cleared the clog and recommended a replacement valve. He also recommended a safety switch but noted there was already a switch in the system. I declined the extra safety switch as a redundancy and started working with E. Smith to look for replacement systems or coils. On the evening of May 5, water started leaking from our ceiling causing water damage across three levels of our house. We contacted E. Smith and requested remediation. Two technicians arrived the following day and informed me, as I recall, that there was a buildup of pressure in the system that was released by something the first technician did. The second technicians straightened the pan, fixed a double trap, and added a new switch. One of the technicians also said based on what he saw he was recommending that E. Smith repair the damage.I was later contacted by *************************** to have a contractor come out to do repairs. When the contractor came out I informed him that I would like mold remediation given the amount of water that leaked. He said he would speak with **********************.Later, I spoke with **********************. During this call ********************** mentioned the declining of the safety switch and said he believed E. Smith and I shared fault for the leak. I said if E. Smith would not remediate mold I would like them to pay for mold testing in a few months.A few days later he e-mailed me blaming a too-small drain pan and the declining of a switch. I responded saying that given the amount of water the size of the drain pan was irrelevant. As shown by the email chain attached, he also was fully aware of the declined safety switch and the fact I already had one.
