The BBB Torch Award deadline is coming up quick, and I hope your business gets recognized this year. Not just because it deserves a little time in the spotlight (although it probably does), but because I believe recognition matters — especially when it’s earned through trust. Let me explain.

If you’ve helped build a business — whether from scratch or from the inside — you already know the amount of work it takes to do it well. Long hours, hard calls, and the daily weight of doing right by your team and your customers. And if you’ve done all that while leading with integrity? Then I want to make sure you hear about this.

At Better Business Bureau, our focus is helping people find businesses they can count on. And behind the scenes, one of the things we care about most is honoring the businesses that are quietly doing things the right way. Businesses that show up for their customers, take care of their employees, and make ethical decisions when no one’s watching. This is where BBB Foundation, the charitable arm of Better Business Bureau, comes in. We celebrate the businesses going above and beyond and show the community who their marketplace role models are through our awards programs.

That’s what the Torch Awards for Ethics are all about.

These awards highlight businesses that have made trust a priority, not just in marketing, but in the everyday choices that shape how they operate.

Part of what makes the Torch Awards so meaningful is that they are 100% earned by the businesses that receive them. There’s no pay-to-enter. No flashy campaigns. Just a group of real businesses being recognized for putting integrity first — across Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Western Wyoming, and Central Colorado.

If your business has been around for three years or more and excels in character, culture, customer, and community initiatives, I hope you’ll take a closer look. The application is free, and the review process is led by independent judges who are leaders at past Torch Award-winning businesses.

This might be the nudge your business needs — not to change anything, but to own the work you’ve already done. A Torch Award win can boost visibility, build even more trust with customers, and remind your team that the way you do business really matters.

You don’t have to be perfect. But if you’re committed to honestly earning trust and keeping it, I’d say you’re already a contender.

Check out the Torch Awards. If you want the chance to be recognized, complete and submit your application by Sunday, July 20, 2025.
