I applied at the Alaska club on a trial membership in September and missed the cut off date to cancel without the fee. I never once used the gym and was charged another month when I submitted my written notice of cancellation online. I was charged two months after I cancelled. The conversation I had on the phone did not give me the impression that I was still being charged for the month of October on top of the cancellation fee in November. I was told about the cancellation fee only.

When I signed up at The Alaska Club at their Juneau location, I told the sales representative that I was only in town for the Summer.The representative offered to place me on a monthly charge plan. I declined the offer and I said that I wanted to make a payment that day and then in two weeks I would pay the remaining balance for the Summer season (May through September).The representative said, "Okay" and then he took my credit card into another room and he set me up on the monthly charge plan unbeknownst to me.After two weeks I asked the staff how much do I owe and they said, "No balance". The next week I asked the staff again and again they said, "No balance".Then I asked a sales representative about it and he said, "No balance".The next month I noticed that there was a monthly charge on my credit card and I knew that I had been lied to.In August, I put in a 30 day notice that I was leaving via email to their accounting department in *********. Their response read that they needed a 60 day notice, therefore, I would be charged an additional month's payment of $152.25 plus $10 dollars for setting up the monthly charge plus $4.00 dollars per month after that for the mail of receipts.I am presently fighting these charges through my credit card company.I will never go back to the Alaska Club gym. This is my fair warning to other would be patrons.

Alaska Club (East *********) told me that I have one month trial for free and I can cancel membership during this period with no payment and fines. And we agreed to try. I signed up membership agreement July 2021. After a week I decided to cancel my membership because family issues. I even didn't have the membership card yet. I called them and they told me that we need to pay cancellation fee $700. I didn't believe my ears. It is SCAM!!! Don't support these scammers! They will steal your money! I will not leave it like this. I am so disappointed. (********* **********

There cancelation policy is garbage.. I signed up in Juneau. The staff was friendly as far as day to day gym operations are concerned... But when I signed up I planned on moving to fairbanks in 6 months where I would continue my membership. Things changed. And I moved elsewhere. Now after wasting my time trying to abide by there out dated cancelation policy, sending emails, making phone calls, sending supporting documentation. And after waiting for responses, only to receive little email response. And then calling and wasting my time and having to call back more. I still don't have a canceled gym membership, and it now looks like I'll be paying anothwr month to a gym I can't attend because I'm hundreds of miles away. Oh BTW not only pay another month but possibly pay a $420 early cancelation fee.And this is the second time I have had this same problem with this gym. Had this same problem 5 years ago. Just thought I'd give them a second chance. So its a nice gym. Just the cancelation policy is trash just like the members support when it comes to this issue.

CON ARTISTS!!!! Us, like every other commenter, were signed up under a "60 day comfort guarantee" and paid a $30something fee, Feb 2021. So in May of **************************************** to cancel our membership with ***** B u r n e t t e (same guy who signed us up) and give them a check for $151 which were ***** membership dues. ******************* told us to our face we had no membership to cancel. Our 60 days was actually 90 days. We had no contract, no obligation. We only had to make official resignation in writing to finance during days ******, before being penalized. I emailed finance for weeks receiving no response, until I stated myself unliable for further action since I was so unimportant to email back! Then they said we couldn't cancel without 60 day notice and those two months would cost $500. We refused and explained the situation to ************************************* at AC's finance department and informed my husband and I that ***** B had lied to us and signed us up for a gold family membership which was $256 a month! After working very successfully with ********* O she got it down to $280 and said it would auto deduct and it did and sent us! a final ****/closeout from the Alaska Club that they had been paid and we were done! The very next month they called back and said they'd never been paid, demanded to see our financial statements to drop it, or we owed them $700 in delinquent charges plus back dated late fees!!! We fought it and fought it and we never heard from ************* again. Apparently she, like *****, fell off the face of the planet after they got caught in their lies. Gotta bring in fresh meat. Now debt collectors are calling and I don't know what to do! WHY do they have an A+ rating?!?!!!!
