My boyfriend and lived at Yorkshire Woods for almost 4 years. We paid rent on time, if not early, every month, yet we were the subject of harassment, unfair treatment and threats from the main office. While the threats and mistreatment were handed out by the office manager *** ****, the management company, Brookwood Management, did little to nothing to protect us. The office threatened to have my emotional support animal removed from premises in 2020 because he insisted on an original signed copy of a letter from my therapist. Though I couldn't control the mail during COVID, the threat was made to remove my dog. After that, we received continuous anonymous letters on the door stating WE alone weren't pick up after our dog, when there were waste bags evident outside out apartment proving we were. We then received an "official notice" stating that the office had been made aware that we had a second dog that was over the weight limit, we weren't paying for, we weren't picking up after, didn't keep on a leash and was aggressive. That was obviously 100% false, and when we confronted them about the false accusation, the office manager stated "you don't want to make me an enemy." When my BF asked him if he was threatening us he reiterated "I'm just saying, you don't want to make me an enemy," Fast forward a couple years and we are told our lease was terminated by another note taped to the door, without cause, and we had to be out by the end of the following month. We reached out to Brookwood stating that we were a target of the office and it was clear it was racially motivated because there were simply NO other reason for us to be harassed and accused of so many false accusations over the years. I felt in fear living there. I was worried we were going to get kicked out for no reason and that is what happened. They are also charging us for carpet damage after a sewer pipe leaked into our living room a few years in and they neglected to replace the carpet.
