On Dec 30th 2022 my significant other and I picked out an engagement ring at Skalitzky. Bill ********* handed the appraisal and trade in credit for an engagement ring that was offered in trade for the new ring. The ring was then held in their possession as earnest. Upon returning to pick up and settle for the ring on January 2nd 2023, I was told that the trade in credit would be cut in half and that I would owe considerably more money after the deal was made on Friday. Jane ********* then accused me of not being in legal possession of the ring. If she truly believe this, why would she lower the value, and not call the police? She would have knowing received stolen property and be criminally liable if that was in fact the case. Jane stated that there were no signatures, and as such no deal was actually made. This isn't the case though, as they held my property, which supersedes a signature, and as such commits both parties to a deal. The unethical business practices, complete lack of honesty, and accusatory actions taken by the owners of Skalitzky Jewelers left myself, my family, and my significant other in total shock. As business owners and upper level management we would never consider treating customers with the disdain and vileness that Jane exhibited. In this interaction we found out what Skalitzky's word is worth, and it's not that much. Their actions could also be considered as "Bait and Switch" and have legal liability as such.
