I was charged $75 for not using a full tank of gas so I decided to cancel the service because the fireplace is used as a backup in case we lose power. I canceled and they picked up the tank the following week. The tank was full, it had $300 worth of gas in it. Two and a half weeks later I received a check for $50 so my husband went to the local office in ********** and **** told him that he would look into it. **** called us and told us we couldn’t cancel like that and it was in the contract how to cancel but we never received a copy of the contract. My daughter looked into this to get our money back and they told her we should have asked for a contract, they emailed her a copy. When we checked the contract we found that they had added a page to the original that wasn’t signed and according to Virginia law they should have given us a copy and also the last page should always have a way to cancel the contract without incurring a fee. They called my daughter today and told her they don’t care about Virginia’s laws and they make every customer pay cancellation fees. We were also told by the receptionist that we were lucky it was a full tank or we would have been charged. Not only are they breaking Virginia law they are also taking advantage of seniors. They owe us $250.
