    I am concerned about the 43 % increase in what Davenport refers to as a "Minimum Usage Fee", without prior notice to customers. Davenport Energy installed a 125 gallon propane tank on my property over 13 years ago. My home is small and I am frugal. There have been years when I did not use enough propane and was charged a fee. I was always compliant and paid the $70.00 fee. The high end price for a 125 gallon tank is $600 installed above ground. I felt I was paying for the tank and installation. Now that my tank is over 18 years old, I have paid for the tank and installation twice. I retired from 42 years as a high school teacher last year.At that time, I called Davenport to find out what I could do to prevent the "Minimum Usage Fee". Apparently I misunderstood the criteria. I used 74 gallons of propane but I was told that still is not enough. BUT what I truly do not understand is why any Davenport customer not meeting their minimum requirements must now pay $100.00. That is a 42.83 percent increase. I called to ask their customer service personnel why I used more propane last year than ever before yet now I was going to be charged $100.00 instead of $70.00. I should have used no propane. I would have saved money. . I asked why no notice was sent to customers. I was told, "the bill is your notice". I was also given a long reading of all the things Davenport must pay in order to provide propane service in my county, ************, but our county taxes have not increased. I thought when I "put on a sweater and turned down the thermostat",  I was doing my part to reduce use of fossil fuels.

    When I inherited my parents' house, I inherited a contract with Davenport Energy, since their tank was on the property. The service had not been used for years and the 100 gallons of propane had been sitting idle for the entire time. In order to switch the contract into my name, I had to pay $79 for each year they had not had to fill the tank, which, according to them, took the entire cost of the 100 gallons of propane. I had their technician come out and install a new remote for the gas logs and the space heater, for a lot of money, which persistently left the 3000 sf house filled with fumes. I tried to talk to the technician about this and he said that he couldn't smell anything. Either he was a good liar or has no sense of smell. So I didn't use the logs or the heater. I haven't used them for several years, and have been charged again $79 per year just because. I finally stopped paying the fees and in the first days of July this year I called them to come get their tank and gas, and was told that they couldn't come until September because their truck is "broke down" and won't be fixed until then. Now I have before me a threatening letter dated July 27, saying that they are coming to remove their equipment due to non-usage, like I am a criminal. I am sure that they will find all kinds of fees and penalties so that I probably will have to pay them something, even though the tank is completely full and again has been for several years. I will be very glad to no longer be associated with this company.
