I contracted Patrick P and Tony W with Gulf Coast Trees to remove an oak tree from my front yard and grind the stump in August, 2021. I paid an additional 300 to have the stump ground. Patrick indicated he did not do the work himself but would send a subcontractor to do so and I paid Gulf Coast $2100 to both remove the tree and grind the stump. The subcontractor, Jim ( ************) came out and did some grinding work that left about a 8" - 12" of stump remaining higher than the level of the rest of the yard. I have communicated consistently with Gulf Coast and with *** to have the work completed. Jim said I need to call 811 and have them come out and mark the lines - I did that. I kept contacting Gulf Coast and they kept bouncing me to their subcontractor. I did everything they asked and have TECO on standby as they need to be here when the work is done. Everyone has done their job except Gulf Coast Trees. It has been months of numerous communication with the subcontractor and Gulf Coast Trees, and just yesterday Patrick told me its not their problem, and that industry standard for stump grinding is leaving a 10 inch stump above ground level. That is not what we agreed to, and it's just not true, the stump should be ground at or a few inches below ground level so that sod can be placed. I have contacted multiple other stump grinding professionals who confirmed this Right now I cannot repair my walkway or put down sod because there is a 8-12" stump that sits higher than ground level. I have all communications via text message from the subcontractor that he was not paid properly by Gulf Coast Trees, and he had to fight with them to get them to pay for his work. They refused to pay for more than a 10" stump. I have a handicap person living in my home and I can't wheel her out of my house because the roots and stump are preventing repair to the walkway. My HOA is sending me notifications of violation. HELP PLEASE
