    I brought in a 2018 BMW 440i convertible with 30,000 miles in for an oil change and tire rotation. I had purchased the car in June 2021 from a BMW dealer in Miami. It had travelled a little less than 4000 miles in one year. The bill included a charge for an oil filter for over $73 and recommendation for spark plugs and brake fluid change at 30,000. After getting home, I researched the cost for oil filters which ranged from $12 to $28 for my car. The BMW owners manual requires changing spark plugs and brake fluid at 60,000 miles. Worse still, they under-filled the crankcase by installing 5.6 quarts of synthetic oil. The BMW owners manual shows the oil capacity is 6.9 quarts. I drove to the shop to lodge a complaint. They refused to adjust the cost of the oil filter and grudgingly added 1.3 quarts of oil after calling BMW for verification. I do not recommend this shop. They grossly overcharged for parts and tried to sell services not needed for another 30,000 miles. They lamely explained (lied) that this was an extreme service location because of the summer heat. Pure BS. The crankcase oil does not suffer from outside temps in the 90's. The oil temp while running is precisely the same regardless of outside temps.

    I have to defend our position on the one star review. The customer did come in for service on his 2018 BMW 440i. At time of write up, the customer has the ability to refuse or except the service / repair at any time prior to signing, already knowing the cost of service / repair he signed the Work Order and had us proceed with the service. Then he returned a day or 2 after the service. His complaint of the part, oil filter, used are compared to what he can purchase on-line. Not the same.
    He did not request any compensation during the discussion of the different prices, just pointed out the differences.

    His other complaint about maintenance is due to the condition we have in SW Florida. There are 2 different type of maintenance program, Normal conditions, and Severe conditions in which the vehicle is driven in. Here in SW Florida, we are in a Severe condition environment. Therefore, we use the severe condition table for maintenance. It will not state that information in an owner's manual. He makes the decision to property maintain his vehicle or not.

    Yes we did add additional oil at no cost, our system provided 2 different capacities and we chose the wrong one.

    Yes, I did show them some oil filter costs in the range of $12 to $16.50 from on-line sources. I also showed them the cost for local NAPA Gold oil filter (which they used) for $28, delivered. They did not offer an adjustment from the $73 oil filter they gouged me for. Failing to put in the required amount of oil was shear incompetence. The BMW 3.0 L turbocharged engine has been in production since 2007 with a crankcase capacity of 6.9 quarts, not 5.6 quarts. While this was my first SWFL service for this car (which I purchased in June 2021), i've had my Cadillac Escalade serviced at Val Ward Cadillac in Fort Myers several times. They have never suggested the the "severe" weather (heat) in SWFL would require replacing the spark plugs and brake fluid at 30,000 mi. Note, I just had my 40,000 mi Escalade serviced at Val Ward the same day my BMW was serviced by Premier Auto Service Center.
