I was planning a trip to my home country of Togo, so my father referred me to Worldwide Travel Inc. I contacted Chand U*** to get prices for my trip. I told him I wanted a round-trip flight on ********* Airlines, which would leave from Newark Int’l Airport, for the dates of June 20th to August 9th, 2022. He said it would be $1,280 each for my son and myself. He instructed me to pay a total of $2,560 and then ensured me he would send the itinerary for the trip. The first transaction was on April 13th, 2022. I paid $2,000 through ***** to this number: ###-###-####. I then sent $560 on April 14th again through ***** to the same number above. On April 16th, while I was still waiting for him to email me the itinerary, my son and I got into a car accident and we were rushed to the emergency room. I felt a little better on April 19th, so I contacted Mr. U*** that day to inform him that our plans had changed because of the car accident. I explained to him that I would need the money to pay the deductible to fix my car. At this point, I asked for my $2,560 to be refunded back to me. I did not think it was going to be an issue because I never received my tickets/itinerary in my email. He said there would be a penalty of $270 for each ticket. I didn’t understand why I needed to pay a penalty fee because I never received any of the materials I paid for since making the last payment on April 14th. Plus he did not disclose to me before hand about possible penalties, written or verbal. I am disputing the penalty charges and requesting a full refund in the amount of $2,560.
