Went to file a claim with 5 star after my father died for 200,000$Said the policy was for me to die instead of my dad but that we could change it so that id get 200,000$ if anything happened to my mom.Now not only are they not letting us put it on my mom, but that the policy is only for 20,000$ instead of 200,000$Shady company. Gives you the run around, even agents are saying they are on a skeleton crew and i can understand why if this company is going to treat greiving customers like this. I should have taken screenshots of the account value when i first logged in to initate a claim. Shame on me for trusting any american insurance company in good faith.We are struggling and needed that 200,000$ in the absence of my father but now its looking like we will lose the house.

I want to give zero stars but I cant. My son was murdered in January but they are refusing to pay his death claim because the investigation is still ongoing. The detective returned the paperwork stating the beneficiary is NOT suspected. My son was murdered in ******** ** and I live in TN. Ive had this policy on him since he was a child and have never missed a monthly payment because it comes out of my checking account. I do not recommend this company because they evidently like to play games and delay/avoid paying death benefits when they are needed most by family to pay death expenses. Its been 3 months and they are still not paying the claim even though the beneficiary has been cleared. The lead detective has completed all correspondence but they still refuse to process the claim. I am more than likely going to have to hire an attorney to resolve this and it is going to cost them more than the benefit amount when I am done because they will end up paying my attorney fees and litigation costs. Stay away from this company!

I've had a whole policy with them for a little over 30 years. suddenly I'm getting a annual report of activity in the mail. that says that they are charging me more than what I am sending to them so the cash out value is decreasing and it looks like its been doing so for many years. After further review it looks like when the cash out value reaches zero they can cancel my policy. I'm very upset with them. it's called whole life, and here I thought it would be with me for the rest of my life. not for another 6 years and when I get old they cancel it before I die.... frustraiting as all hell. I still have a little over a thousand dollars in cash out value, I might as well get something out of it before they cancel it and my familly gets nothing.

I have been trying to cancel my insurance policies through 5 Star Life Insurance and have been unsuccessful in even getting a call back. 1st attempt-left voicemail with detailed policy information, cancellation request and callback info. 2nd attempt-Spoke to representative that might have been a phone answering service. She could not answer any of my questions but took down my contact info and reason for call and said someone else would call me back and be able to answer my questions. 3rd attempt-emailed company at their "customer service email" received automated reply that the email was for customer service questions only. 4th attempt-sent an email to another email address. 5th attempt-Call was actually answered and I had a very helpful woman tell me that there was no record of any request or information that I had been requesting to cancel my policies. On this attempt the representative did email me a cancellation form. This morning I received a reply email back from 5 Star Insurance Company telling me I only have one policy with them. Keep in mind I filled out a Docu-Sign cancellation form for all my policies sent to me by my 5th attempt Service representative. I have never filed a claim with this company but with how hard it is to get a reply or contact someone that knows what their talking about I'm glad I didn't have to. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY.
