I am only writing this review so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. Hogan and Sons replaced my brakes, rotors and replaced two tires. I drove my car for a weekend and had to return it for the tires to be balanced. it wasn't riding right. They said the tires were out of balance, so they balanced them. This was a Tuesday. I didn't drive my car on Wednesday. On Friday, three of my lug nuts fell off and I almost lost my tire. I had to have it repaired in PA. When I called them to tell them what happened, not much happened. So I called the next day and spoke to the manager. He did not apologize, all he said was that they looked at the tape and it was not their fault. I asked whose fault it was then and he had no answer. They didn't offer anything to me. Not compensation, apology or any other explanation. I will not be returning to them for service in the future.Review from Todd N.

I’ve been servicing my vehicles at the South Riding location for over 10 years with no issues. In July 2022 I took my 2011 Lincoln MKX for an inspection. The inspection was completed with no issues. I was left a message that my hubcap was damaged. They ordered me a new one. My Lincoln does not have hubcaps, it has premium upgraded 20” wheels. The mechanic mistook my wheels for hubcaps and damaged them when trying to remove it with a pry bar. The manager on duty Corey was very apologetic, insisting they were hubcaps and would order a new one from Lincoln, but they were on back order. I explained that they were not hubcaps, and the whole wheel would need replaced. Corey agreed and would notify me when the wheel was in. The wheels are $1200 a piece. I was able to repair the wheel myself. Only a small chip remained. I was fine with that as it has over 180k miles. I told Corey a new wheel was not needed, however I would appreciate the next oil change and tire rotation to be covered for the damage. Corey agreed. On 12/3 I dropped my car off for an oil change and tire rotation. Corey covered it. The next day I realized the tire rotation on was not completed even though the service ticket said it was. The damaged wheel was in the same location as when I dropped it off. In addition two other wheels were damaged in the same way as the original. Again, someone tried to pry the wheels and put big gouges on them. I returned and pointed this out to Corey. He was very dismayed and took the car to have the rotation completed immediately. I told him no one was to go near any of these wheels with a pry bar as they are not hubcaps. The rotation was completed. When I asked to talk to Corey about what would be done about the damage, he would not come out of the office to address me. I was told he was on the phone with management to see what they would do and he would call me. After 24 hours I have not received a return call. I’ve been more than reasonable and need this addressed.Review from Chris T

I took my vehicle to Hogan and Son's (46970 Community Plaza20164, Sterling location) for an annual state safety inspection. I have gone to this specific location three times in the past to have the inspection completed. (all with zero issues until Aug 1st) I arrived at the business' opening hours, 7:30 and was three vehicles in line. An hour later I saw my vehicle being pulled into the bay for inspection. Fifteen minutes later, the manager came over to me and stated that he could not inspect my vehicle because it was "too heavy". (vehicle is a factory stock 2008 Dodge Ram 3500) The manager stated that my vehicle was 100 lbs too heavy for his shop. I explained to him that I have never had this problem before (or reason) getting my vehicle inspected at their shop. Manager continued to tell me that his technician wasn't certified for vehicles over a specific weight. Gave me no other ideas where to get my vehicle inspected. When I went to my vehicle, I noticed that they had already scraped off my old inspection sticker, leaving me with a vehicle with no inspection sticker. When I brought it to the manager's attention, all I got was "oh well.. nothing I can do about it".. I went to another service station that does safety inspections and they were stunned that I had been told that. They stated that once a STATE inspection is started (scraping off sticker) they can only either pass or fail the vehicle) The other station inspected my vehicle with no problem and recommended to also call the Virginia State Police Safety Division.Review from Rebecca S

They will charge you over 1000% more than you should be paying. I had a headlight out so they failed my inspection which is fine, however they wanted to charge me $323 for a $17 headlight, and $115 to install it. Thats right $450 to replace a bulb. ScammersReview from Shan R

Car has knocking sound in engine compartment. Visit #1 7/29/21: Replace 2 front shocks $1,085.94 -- Knock still there Visit #2 8/22/21: Can't hear it. $0.00 Visit #3: 9/24/21: Replace strut mount $340.49 -- Knock still there. Vehicle was left at the shop for an additional 2 weeks for troubleshooting after identifying noise -- Nothing found. Conclusion: I've spent around $1,500.00 replacing parts that had nothing to do with the initial issue. Service is friendly, but not effective. I would not recommend.Customer Response

I'm intersested in having them find the source of the noise. I'm sure there is someone in the Corporation that can fix it. If not, refund me my expenses and I'll go somewhere else.Review from TAM T

Avoid this Hogan & Sons Tire and Auto at all costs. This company is run by thugs! I got all my tires changed at Fairfax location on 1/8/21 and I brought back to check up for an air leaked! I got into a little argument why my info wasn't in the computer system, and finally they agreed to take the car in to take a look! They came back and told me they did a patch because there was a nail in the tire! From my understanding it is illegal to patch a tire in VA so I took a look and they did not do any patching on the tire! I drove off about 1 mile away and the light came on there was a problem with the tire, so I came out take a look. I found out that the front tire got a razor in it! I called them up and confronted and someone name Mike picked up the phone and I told him about the situation, then he asked me was it the front tire got the razor in it before I even told him if it was the rear or front tire! I decided to report them to the police for vandalized the car! When the police showed up the mechanic did the car got scared jumped into his car and took off! I hope your company will go out of business!Hogan and Sons, Inc. Response

I am always sympathetic to a customer's review when our team makes a mistake, as we are not infallible, and we work with our customer base to remediate an open issue. However, I will not accept disparagement of our company and or our staff through libel claims. More importantly, I want to recognize our entire team in Fairfax for how well they handled this situation. Details below: You brought your vehicle into our shop due to a leak in your left rear tire. Our Assistant Manager attempted to look you up in the system, and could not locate your profile, as you stated you purchased the tires at this location. At this point, you became very irate, and reiterated that you purchased the tires at this location, and then accused our team of stealing 700.00 (false claim #1), as you were not in our system and that you paid cash. During this exchange, our team created a new profile, and was in the process of covering the repair under warranty as a goodwill gesture. As our team was closing out the ticket, you mentioned they were purchased on January 8th. Our team pulled the physical invoice from that date, and discovered you did buy the tires, but not from Hogan & Sons, and instead, used Goodyear.com, which included the installation and tires, and paid by credit card. Hogan & Sons was only the installer. In addition, we noticed you did not buy the Road Hazard Warranty, and although we completed the repair for free, we would not be doing so in the future. Later that day, you called our store back up and accused us of sabotaging your vehicle by placing a razor blade in another tire (false claim #2), which we assured you, we did not do. You than followed up with another call to our service manager. About an hour later, you showed up with the police at our store. The police confirmed it would be impossible to place a razor blade in the tire at the angle it went in without seriously injuring yourself. In regards to the patch, again, another false claim (false claim #3). It is not illegal to patch tires in Virginia. You claimed you did not see the patch, and you are correct, as we patch tires from the inside and follow protocol to ensure the patch works. It was not a nail, but a screw, which we had on location for your review. Your final claim (false claim #4) that our technician ran when the police arrived, also false. The technician, the assistant manager, the director of operations, and the police were all present during this time, and at no time did anyone leave. Our team acted completely professional throughout this entire ordeal, even after repeatedly being berated with false claims. It is very unfortunate how you treated our staff. At the end of the day, we did indeed repair your original issue, which was a flat tire, and did it at our cost, and no cost to you.
