VacationCandy is timeshare marketplace where guests rent a specific timeshare owner's reservation. VacationCandy serves as the conduit between guests and owners. When a guest submits a booking, VacationCandy issues a non-refundable payment to the timeshare owner.
Complaints to BBB have recently requested refunds for timeshare reservations. The business states that they understand how upsetting it is to pay for a vacation and miss out on enjoying that vacation. The pandemic was unforeseeable for guests as well as owners and VacationCandy. For this reason, VacationCandy states it cannot hold owners responsible should guests have opted not to purchase travel insurance, or cancel for any reason insurance. VacationCandy is not an insurance company and does not have the ability to compensate guests for matters outside of its control.
VacationCandy does not retain guest funds, nor have the legal ability to force timeshare owners to offer a refund should guests be unable to travel due to any reason, including, but not limited to a pandemic. Guests have been made aware that we have requested that timeshare owners be compassionate to guest's missed travel and offer a refund. However, the business states that the owners have no contractual obligation to provide a refund, so there is not a high probability of owners being willing to offer any compensation.
