      I made an appointment with ***** ******** ** at Valley Health East Huntington, WV a whole THREE months before the eye exam date of November 5, 2024 and CANCELLED that appointment the very day I made it with the receptionist Tory. Three months pass and I am sent an automated text message from this office reminding me of the November 5 appointment I already cancelled and the text message is sent 48 hours before the appointment date. I replied "no" and cancelled already to the text message and was abruptly sent an estimate of 140.00 USD to pay despite full cancellation and no services rendered. Shame on this office. If this office retaliates and notifies a collector agency I will calmly respond in writing to the agency and explain that I do not owe this estimate figure.

      Patient appointment was not canceled threes months before the exam as patient stated. Patient stated the appointment was canceled the very day it was made. The appointment was schedule nine months in advance. According to our system the appointment was never canceled until the confirmation text was sent out on 11/2/2024. Patient did receive a confirmation text because we still had the appointment on the schedule. According to The No Surprise Act we are required to provide our patients with a good faith estimate of the cost of their care prior to the service. The good faith estimate was prepared and mailed out on 10/30/2024. The letter was mailed out before the cancelation was completed. Patient would have received the letter around the same time the text message was sent. 

      The letter states " I am providing you with an estimate of $XX". The letter also states "This estimate is not a contract and does not require you to get service at Valley Health".

      In order to be compliant with the federal law we issue the good faith estimate. The patient did not receive a bill from Valley Health. The patient has no outstanding bill with Valley Health and will not be sent to collections for the canceled service.
