    I requested an estimate for taking down a cluster of trees and chipping brush piles. I received an estimate and agreed to the price. **** said he'd be back in a couple of weeks. My property is a registered wildlife habitat and part of the Homegrown National Park program. I had removed most of the invasive plants and tagged many of the native trees and plants in the ****. Newly planted blueberries, herbs, and wildflowers surrounded a nearby rocky **** marked with decorative stakes. A bird feeding station hovered on the hill above it all. Paths meandered throughout the ****.WE DID NOT HAVE A CONTRACT OR SCHEDULED DATE.Nearly two months after I received the estimate, I came home for lunch and found the entire natural **** had been toppled and scraped down to the dirt!MOST OF THE ORIGINAL TREES THAT WERE MEANT TO BE CUT ARE STILL STANDING AND MUCH OF THE DESTRUCTION IS ON MY NEIGHBOR'S PROPERTY.I expressed my dismay and agreed to pay him if he would clean up the fallen trees and chip or remove the remaining honeysuckle pile. He complied and I paid him. After he left, I realized that it would cost far more than I gave him to remove the toxic grass and do a minimal amount of restoration. I sent him this message: "I stopped payment on those checks. I am devastated by the damage to my native plants and trees and it will cost thousands of dollars and take years to restore it. I understand that you have a crew to pay and other expenses and I want to work things out in a way that leaves us both satisfied. This problem is simply a misunderstanding and I don't want either of us to lose out."HE RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY BY PHONE WITH CURSES AND THREATS AND FOLLOWED UP WITH ABOUT A DOZEN VOICE MESSAGES OF ADDITIONAL CURSING AND THREATS.I released the checks and asked for contact information for his insurance company. **** did not respond so I must conclude that HE IS UNINSURED.Artistic Tree and Landscape recently became Artistic Tree and Excavation.
