In early June 2024, Professional Services heating and cooling did a routine checkup on the a/c unit. The tech outlined numerous problems with our 20 year old unit. We got another opinion and the decided to have Professional Services replace the a/c unit.On June 17, 2 techs came to replace the a/c. They immediately went into the basement. I thought they were disconnecting the power to the a/c. But they came back upstairs and told me I needed a new furnace. I said no. They said if I replaced both at the same time I could get a better price. They replaced the a/c unit and left.October 7, I had another **** company look at my furnace. When we tried to get the heat going for a combustion test we found Professional Services had shut off the gas line. And cut the wires to the thermostat. Also made a whole in the vent chimney and covered it with tape. Next level HVAC repaired the furnace and completed the combustion test. The furnace is well within the safe zone. I never authorized the Professional Services techs to check our furnace on June 17. I certainly didnt authorize them to turn off the gas and damage the furnace by cutting the wires to the thermostat. I didnt sign any documents stating what they did to the furnace on June 17.When I emailed Professional Services and asked for a reimbursement for the service repair completed by Next Level HVAC-$196. The owner ****** ****** said they wouldnt pay for a work done by another company.I just called another company for a second opinion. I had no idea of the ********** can Professional Services do this without our approval? Can BBB make them accountable for this? Please help.Business Response

Professional Services was out installing a new AC at the home on 6-17-24. The install technician noticed that the heat exchanger was damaged. They are trained to follow code and to disconnect and turn gas off as a faulty heat exchanger can leak dangerous carbon monoxide into your home, making it unsafe to operate. We did ask the customer if they wanted to turn there AC install into a system but they did not want to do that at that time. We simply did what we are supposed to do to keep the customer safe.Initial Complaint

July 3. I had professional services at my home to clean the vents in my house. Three days later, I found two vents in my basement and one upstairs that had not been uncovered. There was no circulation of air in my basement, which caused things to mold. I contacted the company, email and phone And they did not believe me. I sent them pictures of things that have been molded and of the blue plastic that had been covering my vents. August 11 I realized my air fan was on constant instead of Auto, so I switched it back. I went downstairs and noticed water coming from my furnace into the basement. When I called professional services to come out I was advised I would be charged for the service, so I opted to call someone else. I was told I had been scammed by professional services as they have perform services that were not needed. They had blown dust backwards into my furnace/air-conditioning unit into the coils, causing the dust to go into the drainage pipes and clog it. I had to have my unit re-serviced, and the pipes replaced. I sent emails to the company they were supposed to have sent someone out three weeks ago but no one ever showed up. The correspondences that were sent to me from professional services have been retracted. I sent a final email asking for a refund. I would like a refund, but I would also like to prevent this from happening to other people.Customer Answer

One up stairs in the front room, which I removed and vacuumed out this week. There was still debrief in that vent including a piece od crayon. My daughter complained that the basement was stuffy, then found mold on her boots, pic included. I bought a dehumidifier which cost me $300 plus . The next day I found both bins in the basement were still covered with the blue plastic, which would explain why I never had mold problem prior to the services.
