I attempted to file a warranty return for a motorcycle cover that was covered by Dowco's "lifetime warranty" for material and workmanship on their all weather top of the line motorcycle cover today and was denied. They said since I had returned other covers under warranty, for several years prior, I was not eligible and it was at their discretion. What part of "discretion" am I to understand does not honor a written warranty? If their product fails to live up to the warranty that's not my problem. The customer service person stated that I had in some way abused the warranty by using it for replacing defective covers in the past. I have done nothing dishonestly and have fulfilled the guidelines of the warranty. It shouldn't matter that I had "warranted" covers replaced in the past. If ***** uses inferior material on their covers that only last a year and a half -- that is not my fault, Dowco needs to improve the quality or drop their so called "warranty." I didn't abuse the cover in any way and observed their guidelines of care. The cover only lasted about a year and a half. The top seam(stitching) tore out today. The purchase date on the cover is 12-20-23.

    Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint submitted by this customer.

We appreciate all of our customers and take warranty claims seriously. The specific cover this customer has includes a limited lifetime warranty, and we strive to provide high-quality support products. However, as clearly outlined in our warranty policy on our website, warranty claims will be replaced at our discretion.

In this particular case, the consumer has received 3 replacement covers for item 50003-07 for his 2000 *** R1100S on 4/6/2022, 1/23/2023, and 7/1/2024. Each of these replacements was processed per our warranty policy and in the spirit of standing behind our products.

Additionally, on 7/17/2025, the consumer submitted a warranty request for the same product and given the pattern of repeated annual claims and our reasonable expectation for product longevity, we determined that further replacements were not warranted under our policy. The nature and frequency of these claims indicate that the product may not be used or maintained as intended. While this may not have been the resolution the customer was looking for, we did offer a 15% discount on the purchase of a new cover in good faith and because we value our customers.

While we understand the consumer may be disappointed by the warranty denial, we believe our decision is fair and consistent with our stated warranty policy and practices. We remain committed to providing quality products and service, with that being said we will provide one final replacement cover. We will reach out to the customer and will be providing this customer with our Black WeatherAll plus cover vs the Gray he currently has as we do not have any of the Gray covers available to ship.

We hope this will provide the customer with the resolution he is looking for with the understanding that this is a one and final replacement.

    Regards,
    Dowco Powersports Team
