    Cygnus Payments guaranteed they could create a Point of Sale system that was more reliant and could provide us the types of reports we need for our unique business model, which has consignment artists along with wholesale items. In our initial meetings we gave them examples of all the things needed in our reports and the different categories. They said none of this was problem and they could do exactly what we needed. We were told they could save us money on credit card fees by passing along the cost onto the customer, by adding a %2.9 percent add on to all card paying customers. After further research, we realized this is definitely a grey area state to state and we felt very uncomfortable with that. We attempted to use their system from November 9th, 2023 to December 20th, 2023. Their system and data was so inconsistent that our CPA came to us to show us the discrepancy in the numbers. Some of this discrepancy was due to their software running reports with things in the wrong columns, some we are still trying to figure out. We have e-mailed them multiple times asking for a break down of the charges that are being taken out of our account. When we signed on with them, our contract said we would be paying $79 per month, although verbally they had told us $99. That fee was to go towards the equipment, which included a monitor, cash register, paper printer, and credit card machine. After we figured out that they were not able to provide us with what they originally said they could, we wrote an e-mail asking to terminate our contract. We asked if we could early terminate the contract and pay out for the equipment. They ignored and refused to answer our e-mails for over a month. They terminated the local sales rep we had and also terminated the person above her when we started asking all these questions and they were trying to advocate for us. The last time they e-mailed us, they said $399 to end our contract with them, but they proceeded to take out $671.91.

    Cygus finally reached out to us and terminated our contract and let us return all equipment to them.  We have now heard from two more small business in town that are also having bad experiences.  I imagine you will be hearing from them soon.
