We started the **** process in April and submitted all required documents on May 15. We picked the option to have $16,090 funded to our account within 20 days as this is money owed to our company for Covid stress. What is scary is that they asked us to change our address with the *** to their credit union, which we did because apparently, the *** sends the funds directly to the credit union then they take their 20% cut and send us the rest. I have been emailing and calling for over 2 months and no solution and no money has been paid to us. We are beyond frustrated as this is a LOT of money for our family that is desperately needed. They have 3 years of our taxes, our socials, kids' names, everything personal and we are now very worried this company is scamming us.Business Response

I filed an amended return for SETC with Anchor accounting in May. My brother in law could have filed this ammendment free of charge, but i needed the refund advance. They advertise that if you don't owe money to IRS you will get am advance within 15 days or less. I did everything they asked and have been sitting here since the beginning of June realizing I may have got scammed. I received a text message on Monday this week saying my application is approved for my advance. I checked my email and nothing in regards to the advance then I asked the girl who text me and she said I had to schedule phone call with them. I said yes to every time this woman offered, but yet she couldn't get me scheduled. This company had me fill out 6 months of change of address forms as well to them. Therefore they receive any check or mail from the **** I messaged the accounting team today to see what needs to be completed still. The email response said thar although I was approved for advance my credit score isn't where they want it for advances. I have 16 emails stating credit score is not a factor when determining eligibility and I don't recall consenting to a credit check. This company has misled me with empty promises from the very beginning and I dont even know if I will receive anything after they take their cut out and add on some fees most likely. I feel like I'm being scammed and I regret trusting their claims that were only a trap.Business Response

I initially started this process with *************************************** of filing an *** amendment for an SETC and filed on with the *** 2/12/24 and on May 14, Anchor claims I am due back $8,990 and stated they can advance the money due to be received minus 20% fee for filing and it takes having transcripts from the *** to verify that there is no money owed to the *** on or around May 14. I accept, they ask for ***** days to get them and verify then they will release the money which should be received in an additional 2 business days. At the end of the 20 days about June 4, it was said they still have not received the transcripts but I could provide the official transcripts on my own. I do so immediately, but then for weeks they claimed the transcripts needed to be submitted a different way to keep me on the run around for a couple weeks. June 17 they then inform me they have them they are under review and I should receive a text or email to verify my deposit info. Around July 1st or so I had not gotten the text or email I call to inquire if there is a hold up and they then tell me it will be additional ***** days to review them which I was never informed about nor is disclosed. Their claim is they are supposedly waiting on a 3rd party to disperse the funds. Then July ***************************************************************** my money via advance. I told him I never received the email that I would not be receiving it I asked if he could look into this further for me because this was the first I heard of it and can see whats actually going on bc in my end it still shows Im waiting on the advance. He then said he dont know what to tell me but I wont be getting the advance nor will he further answer my questions. At this point, Im not sure who my money will get released to or when, but I signed a power of attorney form and also numerous differently dates *** change of address forms in the advance contact and if we have a contract how can they reverseBusiness Response

They state that I was ineligible for an advance for my refund but attached is proof from my portal shows that I was approved and also the paper work attached for the advance agreement. In that paper work for the advance was power of attorney and (for some reason) numerous change of address form dated for months in advance all of which I had to work with the *** for them be revoked from my end once the Anchor representative said I would not be getting it at the end of July. They should have been the ones to remove themselves not me have to do all the work. And if I were supposedly ineligible there would have been no reason for the power or attorney agreement etc. If I were ineligible I have never received an email from them that I was ineligible and still to this day it shows I am still waiting for my funds to be advanced to me.

I hired this place the end of January to file an amended tax return for me. At that time I was told IRS takes up to 24 weeks. No big deal I was okay waiting. Then May 9th Gig worker called and emailed to let me know they can bite advance the money with no fees associated by Memorial day! I got everything to them right away because I didn't see any reason to wait a few extra weeks if they were offering. After signing a power of attorney and multiple month forms to check my tax transcripts I figured 2 weeks would be great well 2 weeks came and gone, I've emailed several times and tried calling only to get the run around. They are waiting on transcripts but yet you can see in an email from them on June 6th all my stuff was in order and all I need to do is relax. Then again back to waiting for transcripts. I feel this place is a scam and they need to be dealt with appropriately. My next call will be an Attorney to remove them from my IRS records.Business Response

This is a company that pays gig workers/independent contractors federal and state income tax on their behalf for a fee.I got a W2 from this company saying I earned 15k dollars from them. I am not an employee of theirs and never have been. When I asked to have the W2 voided and to be issued a K1 (the document I need to do my taxes) they said they can't provide that. Any additional contact I have made has not been responded to. It's costing me hundreds of dollars in additional fees to get this sorted when I was under the impression that they are providing a service to help with taxes. My taxes are even more needlessly complicated and I'm paying way more in tax than I should because of this. I want a refund for "services" rendered and no further contact with this company.Business Response

While GWS and ****** understand any frustration experienced by a customer who has not yet
received his/her refund, GWS and ****** are not at fault. Specifically, once an application and
supporting documentation are submitted by the customer and ****** to the ***, GWS and ******
have no control of when the *** processes the application and/or when the *** issues the refund to
the customer. The last attempt to contact the Customer directly on May 23, 2024 also went ignored
by the Customer.
In addition, the Customer’s review contains defamatory statements including that a W2 was issued to
the Customer by GWS. A thorough investigation by GWS concluded that no such W2 was issued
and the Customer’s allegation is entirely false.
GWS and ****** have assisted customers in receiving more than $33 million in SETC refunds.
GWS and ****** remain committed to adding the Customer to their list of successful refunds.

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
