On Dec 11 @ 2:57am (GMT), I made a purchase of $21.84 ($19.99 + $1.85 sales tax) on the game Star Wars: The Old Republic, run by the accused company. Accused company then suspended access to my account for seven days for violation of a rule that doesn't exist in either Rules of Conduct document governing the game, as linked below:***************************************************** ************************************************ The violation they claim is as follows:"We took action on your account because we found the following: Inappropriate Reference Violence and Tragic Events. Chatlogs confirm violation: Had the US nuked China as soon as they entered the Korean War, it would have been a very different outcome AND world.12/10/2024, 1:55?????????AM We were always capable of winning it. We just didn't nuke China"...yet there is absolutely no mention of this rule in either governing document -- one of which has not been updated since before the game launched. Further, an actual tragic event was never referenced. No belligerents nuked each other during the Korean War, that was ever recorded anyway. (That seems like the kind of thing that would have made the history books.) Had I known this was a violation OR had I even been ignorant of this being a violation AND it was written down in EITHER governing document, I'd say "fair enough". But none of that is the case, I was denied access to my account and purchase, and the decision for such was upheld.I cannot enter into a business agreement with unclear terms, or terms that change without proper notice and publication. Broadsword must update its Rules of Conduct to reflect all of the requirements it imposes on customers.
