In March of 2025, a sales representative targeted my elderly parents in Sandy, Utah, and sold them a solar energy system. The salesperson misrepresented the financials: my parents were not aware that they were signing up for a loan that will last longer than either of my parents will live. The solar system will not save them any money, in fact it is costing them more than they were previously paying for power. My parents were TARGETED by shoddy salespeople, and are now having to pay extra every month out of their fixed income for a solar system that will not benefit them in any way. The installation itself was questionable: the installers started working on the house without permission! My parents were not home to approve any work, they just climbed up on the roof and began the work. Then, one of the installers asked my parents to sign a sheet of cardboard with a roughly drawn sketch of the roof and solar panels that they had already installed, and "approve" it. This is absolutely unacceptable business practice, and the public needs to be made aware. This company, and this industry should be held at a higher standard than they are currently operating, and they should not be allowed to continue doing business if this is how they are choosing to make money. It's completely unethical.

I'm sorry you feel that way. We honestly are not trying to target elderly, but lock have ownership of their power. We do have to get full socials, date of births, etc and we can not discriminate due to age unfornately, or as me as the owner of my family owned and operated business, would do a hard cutoff so people don't feel we are bad, since we honestly are not. Before we start installing, we do ask the homeowner to give us permission and even get a signature, yes, on the layout of the panels which is on cardboard, and I get a picture of it to ensure we get permission before we install. We wil not install without permission and would rather go home and have the equipment sent back. Lenders do welcome calls before they give us "notice to proceed" status and us start working on the project, and we do welcome texts, emails to confirm everything is good and they have the installation agreement so we are not wasting the homeowners time or ours.  Please text me, call me and I can see what I can do to help as we are not "preditory" like you describe us to be, but I am open to suggestions, and strategy to help your parents.Looking for solution to work together and make things better, always though- *** ****** ************ ********

On Oct. 10, 24 we had an appt. with a salesmen for Spring Solar by the name of **** to discuss possibly installing solar on our home. We had several questions about their product and service. **** was quick with his answers and seemed to be quick confident in their product and the service they would provide. They would make any necessary repairs, they would warranty all of the work and equipment. It would be a smooth process. **** reassured us our power meter was up to date and would not need to be replaced. We even checked BBB and they had no complaints. So we signed all the necessary paperwork and was very exited to get started on the installation. Everything went downhill from there. We heard nothing over the next few weeks. Texted messages went unanswered, Phone calls had not been returned. There was also a problem with the power company. That Spring had not submitted needed paperwork. We had very little communication with Spring. At one point Spring informed us we needed a bigger meter and they would have to come and dig up our yard that we had just recently completed a four year makeover of our back yard. This would mean stamped cement would be dug up. We refused and told them if it can not be done with out tearing out our backyard as agreed on in the beginning we did not want to move forward. On Dec. 12, 24 Hayden sent a texted message stating our Equipment had been ordered and would be delivered in the next few days. Deliveries on several days showed up to the house with no communication they would be coming. They sent a text, they would come to the house the next day to install. We let them know we were on vacation. That they need to give us more notice then 24hrs. On Jan 20, 25 the panels were installed. They but a bigger meter on the house that did not match the cut out of the siding. The installers told us Spring would have to sent someone to repair the siding. We can't get them to return our calls. The siding needs to be fixed.

Sorry to hear, we are not familiar with that. I didn't get any texts or voicemails at ************ or emails to ***************************** If you email s**************************** that's the best way to communicate with us. I'm asking the project managers to contact you and work on getting the siding repaired. We apologize for the confusion or frustration, we just honestly didn't hear from you (at least me, *** the owner). We will have someone reach out tomorrow to help out. - *** ******, owner
