I had two implants put in the upper left jaw, with a three tooth bridge, about 5 years ago. Subsequently, the structure has become loose. It is suspected, that the below ground implants were fine, but the attachment screws became loose Subsequently, I have moved to Texas, so I went to Trinity Valley Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center in Forney Texas. They assessed the problem and noted that the abutment was probably loose and needed to be tightened down. A fairly common problem as they noted. I made an appointment at their Dallas Office (Archpoint Implant Dentistry). They noted that I needed to pay $1100 up front before the work commenced. They did not take Dental Insurance. These two points were new to me (paying up front and Not taking Dental Insurance) but it was a new State I was in, and things were done differently with different business models. The cost was $600 to drill into the bridge to tighten the screws, and $500 for the tool to tighten the screw (This type and manufacturer of implants was not used by Trinity Valley). I paid the upfront fee and went for the appointment and they were unable to get to the screws. After an hour of seat time, the Dentist (Michelle Newby) gave up. The Dentist working on me complained that the piece was very hard and it was destroying all her drill bits. So, now I paid for work to be done and it was not completed, AND a part to use for tightening that became unnecessary. I asked if they could return the tightening tool so I can get the $500 back. They said that couldn't be done as they had to open the part to sterilize it. So, now I am out $1,100 with nothing to show for it. No offer of a reduced fee, just, "if you give us an additional $8,000, we can take the old piece out and put in a new one". After the work done on me, I have no credibility or confidence that they can do it, and the cost is prohibitively high.
