    i got my electric bill today and it was 3X higher then usual and i used similar amount of electricity in so confused this is stealing!!!

    Newport Utilities is by far the most corrupt establishment in Cocke County, TN. With Cocke County having no other options for the these essential resources of electricity and water, they price gouge us, shorten their hours of operation and even slack on field work. I lived on a not so fancy property for 10 years before becoming a homeowner. For 8 of those 10 years, I used space heaters and window unit air conditioners. For the other 2 years, I used a furnace with very poor duckwork full of holes. During these 10 years and poor structures my power bill NEVER reached the amount of my current bill. There have also been lines down across mine and my neighbor's road for almost two weeks now. Apparently I'm not the only one suffering from this months gouge. There are also locals that use strictly wood to heat their homes and even have a power bill of $500+. This is absolutely insane. They also refuse to offer a payment plan, giving customers only 6 days to come up with these enormous balances before turning off services on day 7. They have no budging or reasoning with anyone on anything at any time. Even if it's something as simple as turning on utilities of a listed property for 2 hours just to get an appraisal done. Even with the buyer offering to pay for whatever gets used during said appraisal. Cocke County is not the wealthiest county and cannot handle these random tripling of bills. Along with the fact that whether the lines across our road are live or not, are still very hazardous to nearby homes and drivers. Or neighborhood would like these power lines cleaned up for everyone's safety. Instead, Newport Utilities only stuck around for 5 minutes (I guess to make sure they weren't live), then left and haven't been back since. This is unacceptable to our community. Not only do our lives have value, but our children play outside here. Is there anything that can be done about their power trip, price gouging and disregard for hazardous situations that they could fix??

    I have been trying since March 2023 to get electrical service to my house from NUB and they keep telling me they are waiting on transformers that Cocke County uses a different voltage than all the surrounding counties use
    But my complaint is it's 600 ft to the neighbors house and I was told by Clint the engineer with nub back in March that if they would sign a waiver giving NUB the rights to connect to their transformer that I should get electricity real quick.U would need one transformer installed for me all the signing was fine and cleared then but now Nub is telling me that there are no transformers any where in The USA or China like Cocke County uses and Cocke County hasn't received a single transformer in 17 months now and it may be 12 months or longer before they receive any but I have done alot of checking and calling companies that make the transformers for utility districts in East Tenn all they have to have is the specs on the transformers delivery in 45 days.O told the NUB engineer (Clint) this on August 25 2023 he instantly said they used a different voltage than Cocke County wasn't interested in even taking down this companies info.But he did set stakes to run over head electrical across my hay fields from the main road 1400 ft when a water line was just installed and hooked up to Newport water district that was only 1270 ft and I could have electricity in approximately 3 months for somewheres around $22000.00 + when the 700 ft of underground would only cost about $7000.00 but I be can't get a transformer no where in the whole USA or China to be found if Cocke County he as a transformer goes bad how can they fix it .For some reason somebody is living to me I am going thru about 10 gal a day Inga's at a very high expense outta pocket and he more or less says that is not his problem I need to know who do I talk to or where di I fule thru a lawyer a complaint or law suit to get electricity I been a paying customer for 46 years with ***********

    Overcharged for water.we moved from our location in Newport tn. Miraculously we used MORE water in a 15 day period than we did in any month we used their services. There were no leaks or issues with our water prior. They refuse to acknowledge this issue and insists we pay their outrageous bill. Under no circumstances did we use more water in a 15 day period than we use in a month. This is a trend with this utility company that needs to stop.
