31-W Insulation installed an inadequate amount of insulation in the attic of our new home in Nov. of 2021, leaving areas of the attic completely bare. The company invoiced for the labor/product needed to properly insulate the entire attic and accepted payment in full. When contacted about the problem, 31-W Insulation sent a crew on 2/25/22 to add 20+ more bags of blown-in insulation. This required us to adjust our schedule and provide access to our home for work that should have been completed properly prior to our 12/9/2022 occupancy. The inadequate insulation resulted in 3 months of excessively high heating bills. (Electric: $319.83, $293.02, $273.42 Propane gas for auxiliary heat: $800.00 for 400 gallons 12/9/21 - 1/21/22, $430 for 215 gallons 1/22/22 - 2/23/22). In a 3/1/2022 call, manager Roy Peters blamed the problem on “new” employees, noted that his company fixed the problem, and denied any company liability for the extra heating expense. Instead, he stated that the home builder (**** *********** ***) and the Marion County building inspector were the liable parties. While the failure of these parties to inspect the work done by 31-W Insulation is indeed a problem, the root of the problem is the failure of 31-W Insulation’s employees to install the correct amount of insulation and management’s failure to inspect work. Mr. Nick K******* regional manager for 31-W Insulation, notified me that the company would refund $400. I accepted this offer. Mr. K****** then asked me to email him a copy of my driver license and my wife’s license, stating it was for the company attorney. I refused to do so. This request is unnecessary & unreasonable. I am surprised that 31-W Insulation, a large corporation operating in multiple states, expects customers to send sensitive personal information through a general email system such as Gmail. Such an action can lead to identity theft. As of 4/6/2022, I am still waiting to hear from the attorney. Email & related documents uploaded.
